Itinerary
Your friendly guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning to begin your memorable journey. We'll first travel to the historic Burana Tower near the small town of Tokmok, about 80 km from Bishkek. As you travel, you'll enjoy beautiful views of the Tien Shan mountains, especially on clear days. Passing through Tokmok, you’ll notice Soviet-era monuments and learn about its fascinating history as a significant industrial city. Along the way, you'll experience local village life and picturesque landscapes.
Explore Burana Tower, an ancient minaret and a symbol of Kyrgyzstan’s rich past. Your guide will share stories about the mausoleums and archaeological sites surrounding the tower. You can climb to the top of the tower for breathtaking views of the Chui Valley and Tien Shan mountains. Visit the small museum showcasing artifacts and an open-air exhibit featuring ancient stone carvings and rock drawings.
Next, you'll travel through Boom Gorge, a stunning landscape that connects the Chui Valley and Issyk-Kul Lake. Enjoy diverse scenery with lush green hills and dramatic clay canyons carved by the powerful Chu River. Here, you'll take a break to enjoy traditional Kyrgyz snacks—kattama (a tasty puff cake) and tea prepared in a Russian samovar.
Upon arriving at Cholpon-Ata, the main town on Issyk-Kul’s northern shore, you'll visit the Historical Museum to learn about Kyrgyzstan’s fascinating history. Then, explore the impressive open-air museum with ancient petroglyphs—stone drawings dating back from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. Set at the foot of the scenic Kungei Alatau mountains, the site offers panoramic views of Issyk-Kul Lake. Your guide will also take you to the unique cultural center, Rukh Ordo, a peaceful place blending various religions, cultures, and histories.
The highlight of the tour - enjoy the second alpine lake in the world on a boat. You will be inspired by the captivating view of the lake surrounded by snowy mountains of Tian Shan. For swimming fans, there will be a short break when they can submerge into cool and transparent water (safety vests are provided). The tour to Cholpon-Ata continues by visiting natural hot springs. Immerse yourself in warm mineral-rich waters known for their healing properties. Enjoy a range of spa procedures, including massages and piling, for ultimate relaxation. Leave feeling refreshed and renewed.
We’ll arrive in the city at 9-10pm and after the beautiful day full of experiences you’re gonna be so pleasantly tired. That’s where our tour ends. Drop off at a hotel. Have a good night!

I had an amazing time with Andrei who spoke very well English . His vehicle was very comfortable and his driving style was very safe. The experience itself was majestic . The history of the country and area was evident in the places we passed through, from Burana Tower to the 2 outdoor museums . I chose this tour although the price can be a little high since I want to visit the town of Cholpon Ata instead of Balykchy . The lake of Issyl Kul was beautiful , unfortunately because the waves were too risky that day , we were not able to go on a boat ride. However, we had a relaxing time in the hot spring bath instead . The foods we had along the way were also very good . We were back in city around 7:30 PM . All in all, an amazing experience and recommended to all !
Faruk is a great driver, great guide, and speaks great English! Clean car! My friend and I had an excellent time. We didn't want to go into the hot spring pools so we just walked around a little bit. We learned a lot about Kyrgyz culture and daily life. We strongly recommend Faruk as a tour guide.
It went well, punctual in the hotel pickup and the guide was attentive. The Burana Tower is a must and the boat ride in the lake was fantastic.
Longer day than advertised. No boat trip off season. No beach access to lake. Beautiful drive with lots of stops for snacks. Delicious restaurant meal. Hot springs are worthwhile.
We had an excellent experience with our driver and tour guide Anwar. He was a wonderful person—polite, helpful, and attentive throughout the trip. The car was very comfortable, which made traveling long distances easy and relaxing. I would gladly recommend him to anyone.
My husband and I booked this last minute so we’d get to see more of the country before horsetrekking for a week. We’re so glad we did! This full day excursion showed us parts of the Silk Road and the national history. Our guide, Baiaman, was SUPER cool and knowledgable about our history questions and providing contexts to the landscapes and its attractions. He was a great driver also. The boats were closed for season which was unexpected, but on the drive back he made a surprise stop for us at a zoo to ensure our experience was well-rounded. This was a full day and I’d recommend friends and family go. If we ever make it back to KG I’ll definitely be reaching out to Baiaman again for another tour!
Chilled tour to Issyk-Kul, private pickup and all activities organised, tasty lunch and informative guide throughout the day.
Did the one-day trip from Bishkek to Issyk Kul and it was amazing! The drive itself was super scenic, and the lake was beautiful - it stretches for miles, with mountains all around. We stopped a few times at different spots for photos and lunch. Our tour also included visiting the very old petroglyphs near the lake, which was fascinating. My guide, Baiaman, was super knowledgable and friendly - he is a great tour guide. It’s a long day but totally worth it if you don’t have time to stay overnight. Definitely recommend!
It was very good. After arriving at the airport in the morning, we went to Lake Isikkuru, boarded a boat, and after that we could see the stars while riding. The guides have no problem with English and have lived abroad, so they are knowledgeable. Most of all, you can change your itinerary as many times as you want if you negotiate, so please talk a lot!
Another quality experience arranged by Talgat of Datka Travel. Guide Beki was wonderful. Amazing Issyk Kul, fabulous lunch at “Muras” in Balykchy, beautiful boat ride on the lake and the astonishing petroglyphs.
Dear Traveller, Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad you enjoyed Issyk-Kul with Beki — from the boat ride and petroglyphs to the lakeside lunch at Muras. It’s always a pleasure to arrange memorable experiences, and we hope to welcome you back for more adventures in Kyrgyzstan! 🌿 — Talgat, Founder of Datka Travel
