Ganga Aarti is like, one of the most mesmerizing and soul-ful ritual you can witness in Varanasi. It's a super beautiful evening ceremony where Hindu priests perform a fire-ritual workship to the holy river Ganga, usually at the Dashashwamedh Ghat or other ghats in Varanasi. Ganga Aarti typically starts around 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the evening, but timings can vary slightly depending on the season and sunset. Priests chant Vedic mantras, plays conch shells, bells, and drums, and wave large fire-lamps(diyas) in a synchronized, rhythmic motion while offering prayers to the Ganga River. It's like a super-cool, spiritual concert. The Aarti symbolizes the purification of the soul and is believed to wash away sins. People gather to watch, sing along, and even participate by offering the flowers or lamps to the river. Dashashwamedh Ghat is the most popular and vibrant place.
The ghat is believed to have been in existence for thousands of years with refrences in ancient texts. It is a prominent cremation ground where the dead body are cremated to achieve moksha or liberation from the cycle of rebirth. According to mythology the ghat is associated with the deities Shiva and Parvati. Legend states that when Parvati lost her earring it fell into the Ganges at this site. Shiva in search of it, is said to have created a whirlpool, hence the name Manikarnika. Overall Manikarnika ghat is a focal point of spirituality, culture, and tradition in varanasi symolizing the profound relationship between life, death, and the divine in Hindu beliefs. That is why everyday minimum 200 dead bodies cremated there it is done around the clock the dead bodies come from corner of India becouse they belive it is a place libration from cycle of rebirth. There is single pyre for single dead bodies.
Sarnath is like super chill and super sacred place just a short 13km drive from Varanasi. It's basically the spot where Buddha gave his first ever sermon, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, after he got enlightened. So, you know it's a pilgrimage site for Buudhists from all over the world, and even for anyone who's into spirituality or history. Things to check out in Sarnath are; * Dhamek Stupa: This massive, ancient stupa is like, the main attraction, built where Buddha preached his first sermon. * Mulagandhakuti Vihara: A beautiful temple with frescoes and a statue of Buddha. * Sarnath Archaeological Museum: Got a bunch of cool ancient relics, like the famous Lion Capital of Ashoka, you might've seen it on Indian currency. * Ashoka Pillar: The iconic lion-topped pillar, a symbol of India. * Jain Temple and Tibetan Temple: If you're into exploring different faiths, these are right there too.

We split the full day tour over two days. Our driver picked us up from the train station and dropped us off at our hotel. We met Jishan in the early evening to watch the Aarti Ceremony in the evening, which was fantastic. Jishan met us again in the early morning to continue our tour. Jishan was very hospitable and easily adapted to our needs and interests. He quickly knew what suited us and what we wanted from our experience. He is warm natured and was pleasure to be with during our tour. Our driver who we had for the two days was an absolute star, he was prompt and always there when we needed to move on to the next part of the day. They both ensured our safety was met and exceeded all expectations. We would highly recommend this company, and if we ever find ourselves back in Varanasi we know who to book with. Thank you for the most wonderful experience.

I booked this tour for my first visit to Varanasi. WhatsApp pre-contact was smooth and stress-free. Thanks to Zishan, a multi-religious guide, I was able to understand the history and philosophy of each institution, including Sarnarh. I think it is one of the best full-day tours. If I had to say one thing along the way, Aarti at night was new to history and slightly commercial, and unsatisfactory compared to other traditional and majestic destinations.

We took three different tours in Varanasi, by three different providers. This was our first tour and Zishan was our fantastic tour guide. To be honest, after doing this tour, all other guided tours were obsolete and pure repetition. Thanks to Zishan's first-rate planning and guidance, we covered all that Varanasi has to offer, from mandatory temple visits and an amazing silk weaving factory visit to the university town up to the Buddhist locations of Sarnath (outside Varanasi) and the final boat ride to get the Varanasi view from the Ganges, we spent a full and extremely satisfactory day. Zishan is brilliant, a great guide, very knowledgeable and flexible, punctual and with excellent English. If you express specific wishes of what else you want to see or what other interests you have, he will immediately add this to the tour schedule. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful tour with guide Shanu and driver Abhishek in Varanasi. The tour was well organized with visiting many religious and historical sites. There was a lot of activities with 5:30 am start until evening Ganga Aarti. However, mid day 3 hour break was very helpful for energizing young elders. Shanu was courteous and knowledgeable guide and we felt safe with Abhishek’s driving. We particularly loved sunrise Ganges boat ride, visiting Sarnath and archeological museum. Thank you Shaniu and Abhishek!

Very complete tour of Varanasi/Benarés, complemented by an interesting visit to Sarnath. Excellent explanations in almost perfect Spanish by the Manish guide who helped us discover the best times and places of the sites we visited. In addition to a very complete tour, the tour agent had with us certain details to take into account, almost in a personal capacity... Highly recommended! 100%!!!

If you're short on time, this tour is very complete. It allows you to walk through the streets of the old city and the ghats, attend the Arti ceremony from a privileged terrace, observe the morning ceremony from the boat, and visit the crematorium and temples.

We reached Varanasi one day before Holi. Our tour was booked on Holi. Holi is celebrated in Varanasi by all and people prefer not to get out on this day. We were worried. The agency through their guide Mr Shanu handled the situation well. The guide was not only knowledgeable but was soft-spoken and flexible. He took care of our safety and other requests on priority. The morning started with a modification in the itinerary due to Holi. We started with the Lord Vishwanath Temple visit. Despite the rush of devotees, the visit got over in 15 minutes with a priest accompanying us to explain the history and the rituals. Could have the darshan from a very close distance but were not allowed to touch the lingam. We were warned to be careful with payments as there is always a possibility of someone misguiding. We proceeded to Kalabhairav Temple next. It was a quick visit. After the temple visit, we were dropped off at our hotel for breakfast. Could not go to Sarnath as per the original plan. In the afternoon we were taken to a place to show us the making of Banaras Sari by the weavers who used the ancient methods of weaving. We were told that it takes about three months to complete a Sari by this traditional method! In the evening were taken to Sankat mochan Hanuman temple and then to witness Ganga Aarti. This was a magical, musical experience! We witnessed it from the terrace of another nearby temple. The view was clear. During this, managed to take a blessing from a Naga sadhu. The evening boat ride could not be done as there was a holiday due to Holi. The day ended with a visit to Durga mandir which is supposed to have a history of 20000 years! The cancelled boat ride of the previous day was compensated by the Sunrise boat ride. The boat ride ended with a visit to Manikarnika ghat. This was truly a humbling experience! Then we explored the narrow lanes of Varanasi with some shopping. To explore Varanasi one should be ready to walk long distances and navigate through the crowd. All in all, it was a great experience and worth every penny spent.
