Great tour! Not inexpensive, but Charis was lovely and very knowledgeable, well connected and made the tour a seamless experience, accommodating our timeline at each of the stops (which are beautiful, family run, and don't feel tourist-trappy at all). Perfectly timed the visit to Olympia to beat the crowds. The only thing is I wish we had upgraded to the guided tour of Olympia, but honestly was not a bad experience setting your own pace with the book he gives you.
We toured Olympia, a local honey farm, an olive oil farm and a local winery as a part of our experience. The time spent at the honey farm and especially the winery felt more like spending time in a family home with local hosts than it did a tourist experience; it was beyond fantastic and felt completely authentic (because it was)! The whole experience was seamless, easy, convenient, and comfortable. A wonderful and unforgettable experience!
If you love history this tour is for you. The best part of our experience was with our tour guide, Tina. Tina was awesome, so knowledgeable and professional. Ask for her!
Andreas was awesome. Very flexible. Had a super good time., The whole family, including my nine-year-old grandson, we would definitely do the trip again
Stathis was the best tour guide that we had during our 9 day cruise of the Italian and Greek Islands. Our tour of Olympia with him was on Sept 12, 2025. He went out of his way to make sure that we comfortable with what he had planned for us during the 7 hour tour. He meet us on time right on the dock where he had his car waiting for us. Once at Olympia, one member of our group had forgotten his sunglasses, and Stathis gave him his own to wear during our tour there! He also purchased a nice gift for each of us to remember our time with him in Olympia. He took special care to take to us places that are not on the typical tourist sites including a family run honey farm and a boutique winery where we were treated to the most wonderful layout of traditional greek foods along with our wine tastings. We also sent to a beach that was private, but he was able to get us in. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again for another tour and would recommend him 150%.
This was a first class experience. The driver was incredible and he has great relationships built at the places you visit and therefore they take great care of you at each stop. We were on a cruise and we booked multiple tours through Viator and this was my favorite. This was so much better than anything we could have done through the cruise line. Our whole time in port was packed with adventures and it was all private for our group of 4. The wine/olive oil farm was so amazing. We had the best lunch with a great bottle of wine.
We booked a private tour with Katakolon Taxi Tours – Theocharis Stathopoulos, and it was the highlight of our cruise. Theocharis was professional, easy to communicate with, and made the day feel smooth and relaxed. The vehicle was spacious and air-conditioned, which was much appreciated in the summer heat. Olympia was full of fascinating history, and it was amazing to walk through the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The Archaeological Museum helped bring the site to life, especially with the famous Hermes statue. From there, the tour really shined with local stops—Klio’s Honey Farm (delicious honey and pancakes, plus warm hospitality), Agriturismo Magna Grecia (two huge platters of authentic Greek food—olives, sun-dried tomatoes, figs, bruschetta, marmalade, grapes, walnuts, and more—with wine tasting), and the peaceful Monastery of Kremasti with gorgeous hillside views. We finished the day at Agios Ilias Beach, swimming in crystal-clear water. What we loved most was how Theocharis took us off the beaten path to support small family businesses and show us authentic Greek life. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Katakolon!
This was our absolute favorite day!! We visited the archeological site of Olympia, toured a local honey farm with only one other family, and privately toured a small local winery. The food, honey, wine, and locals were all TOP notch!! This was so much better than the large group tours! Andreus was the BEST! He told us all about his hometown and his farm. He even gifted us his homemade olive oil from his own olive trees. Highly recommend this tour! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our tour of Olympia was truly wonderful, and much of that is thanks to our wonderful guide, Nancy. She was knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly thoughtful throughout the entire day. From the beginning, Nancy shared fascinating details about the region, giving us a richer understanding of the area while adding her own personal touch that made everything feel more meaningful. We started with a visit to the archaeological site and museum, where Nancy gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace—something we really appreciated. From there, we visited a charming vineyard where we learned about the olive oil-making process. It was a hidden gem! The setting was stunning, the food absolutely delicious, and the olive oil some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Next, we stopped at a family-run honey farm. Hearing the story of generations of beekeepers and learning about the traditions behind their honey production was heartwarming and fascinating. The passion they have for their craft really came through. To top it all off, we finished our day with a relaxing visit to a beautiful local beach for a swim. Nancy was professional, helpful, and so accommodating throughout the day. She truly made our visit to Olympia special, and we’re so grateful for the experience. We highly recommend this tour—and especially Nancy—for anyone visiting the area. It was a perfect blend of culture, history, local flavor, and natural beauty. A day we’ll never forget!
