Sintra is a small village but with a great concentration of historical monuments and interesting tourist attractions, in Sintra there are more than 10 national monuments, including opulent palaces, ancient ruins and decorative palatial houses dispersed by the hills of the region, challenging walking paths. We expected to go to Peña Palace. Driver, Manuel, asked if we wanted to go we needed tickets. He stopped at other Palace and said both palaces were closed due to strike. No tickets available. When we got to Sintra we went for independent walk and local guide said no problem and drove us to Palace, their wee tickets available and palace was open. We promii on sex to be back so couldn’t visit Peña PalCe. When we got back he said he could drive us there, it he had bad info and really didn’t want to go. Disappointed we could get the tour we are contracted for. Also driver did not had VW hands free celllphone and was distracted. We would not recommend
Hi Mr. Steve. I must say that I fully understand your frustration, however this comment should be directed to Monte da Lua, the company that manages all the palaces in Sintra Just like you, we had other cases that day, simply the employees held a plenary session in the morning without notifying anyone, we had thousands of people who were unable to visit the palaces and many of them will not be reimbursed. For your guide it was a surprise and as you can imagine, it created a concern and frustration in him, which certainly ended up affecting his performance. Employees are in dispute with the private company that manages all the palaces and hold this type of plenary that are nothing more than fake strikes. However, I must say that your review is a bit unfair, as it would not be directed at us, but at Monte da Lua itself. As a rule, we suggest purchasing a ticket to the Pena Palace, which we did not do in your case, as your tour also included Obidos, which makes it difficult to predict your arrival in Sintra. We wanted to be useful in a new opportunity. Thanks
We had a wonderful tour with our guide, Pedro. He was very knowledgeable and flexible and made our time extra nice. He also gave us great recommendations for our stay in Lisbon.
We had a very very nice driver, but he wasn't a "tour" guide. So we had a very good and safe driver who got us from our hotel in Lisbon to Obidos, Sintra, and Cascais, but we were dropped off with a few minutes of instruction regarding where we might want to walk around and then he was very timely picking us up as well. He was very kind and the car was very clean - but again, if you are expecting/wanting a guided tour with someone who is going to accompany you to these places, this is not it.
Hello We are sorry for your comment. Yes, in fact, Obidos is a medieval village, in which what becomes pleasant a walk through its alleys, try its typical drink, the ginja cherry and the typical handicraft shops, so we let our customers enjoy it on their own. The same does not happen in Sintra, where when there is a visit to a palace, the guide always accompanies you during the visit. We look forward to a new opportunity. Thanks
Hugo was very prompt in communicating and offered competitive price for a private tour. Sandra was a great guide a cautious driver and very accommodating Thank you
