Itinerary
This Rose Hall Great House is an early 18th century plantation home that sits on a high elevation on thousands of acres in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The Rose Hall Great House was once owned by the famous and certainly one of the wickedest plantation owners to walk the land of Jamaica, Annie Palmer. She owned hundreds of slaves. This house became haunted after her gruesome death in 1831. The house is scary to look at even in the daytime. There is no stop at the Rose all Great House on your way to Negril however, your tour guide will tell you the history and slow down so that you can take photos.
This tour takes you through one of the most popular towns on the Island. Runaway Bay is naturally beautiful and is certainly one of the most scenic areas in Jamaica. It sits between the beautiful, crisp coastline to one side and the lush green mountains to the other. There is much debate as to how the town of Runaway Bay got its name. some people believe it got the name because that is where the last batch of Spanish soldiers ran away from when they were retreating from the attacking British Troops lead by Governor Ysassi right after the 1655 British invasion of Jamaica, while other argue that it was the point from which the Slaves from inland plantations used as an escape route to runaway to Cuba. Get your cameras ready to go as you make your way through this area.
Bob Marley was born on February 6th, 1945. He died on May 11th, 1981. Visiting this small town is a priority for all tourists, cruise ship and stopover passengers alike from Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Montego Bay and from as far as Negril in the west. Nine Miles is a tiny village in hills of St. Ann where the reggae legend, Bob Marley was born, and fittingly, the place he’s now laid to rest. Although Bob Marley moved to Kingston at age 13 to live with his mother and to advance his music career, he would often return to Nine Miles to get away from the fast pace life of Kingston. Home is where the heart is and Bob Marley wrote several of his hit songs when he was in St. Ann. Nine Miles Jamaica was always his home and to have the full experience of Bob Marley; you will have to visit this village. A tour of this settlement will leave you with a greater understanding of the legend Bob became; in fact, the community today is pretty much how it was in Bob Marley’s early days. A Rastafarian tour guide will be on hand to guide you around the property and answer all your questions. Still present, is his first home and the very bed he slept in as a young child also as an adult when he would return on his many “cooling out” visits. The rock that he used as a pillow, on which he would relax. Quite a few guests have said that they have felt the presence of Bob Marley. The Nine Mile Tour includes his birth and resting place, what he liked to do and Mount Zion, the spot where he drew his inspiration from to write his songs. Visit the nearby Ethiopian church where his body was laid to rest with his guitar. Please remove your shoes before you enter as a sign of respect. Feel free to look around. After Nine Mile Tour there will be a stop for lunch at one of our local jerk chicken Restaurants.
The world famous Dunns River Falls is undoubtedly the most gentle & beautiful waterfall. By now, you should be wearing your swimsuits so all you have to do is to get checked-in, meet with your resident guide, go through the briefing, sign the waiver form and get on with the fun at hand. There are professional photographers stationed at Dunns River that will accompany you on the trip – you can purchase your pictures at the end if you like but, feel free to take your waterproof cameras with you and your Falls Guide will assist you by taking pictures. Your walk to the starting point will be about 2 minutes down to the beach where you will start the 600ft. (183 metres) climb. Be prepared for the cool, refreshing water hitting your body for the first time Your total time at Dunns River Falls will be approx. 1 hour 45 minutes. If you are unable to complete the climb it’s no problem - there are exit points along the way for you to abort. Feel free to ask your tour guide just to point out the areas of the falls that featured in the James Bond movie (Doctor No). Kindly head directly to the bus as soon as the climb is complete.
The town of Discovery Bay is where you will find Columbus Park. It was originally named Puerto Seco (“Dry Harbour”) by Christopher Columbus in 1494 when he and his men landed on the Island. It is said that could not find fresh water to drink. They later found fresh water in another area about 5 miles west of the town. The water was so good that they named the location where it was found Rio Bueno (“Good River”). However, the town of Puerto Seco was later renamed in 1947 to Discovery Bay because Discovery Bay is where the Spanish, lead by Christopher Columbus landed when they invaded the Island on May 4, 1494. There is a park with several old relics and artifacts on display. There will be a brief stop to take photos and capture the rich history of this historic town.
The Greenwood Great House (Plantation home) was constructed in the early 18th Century. Like most, if not all the other Great Houses in Jamaica, the Greenwood Great House was built at high elevation. One could say that this was a strategy used back in the plantation era as a means of overlooking the plantation and also for security purposes. This house, unlike the Rose Hall Great House, is not haunted but of a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The history and the architecture of the house is what will blow you away. As you pass by, feel free to take photos when your tour guide slows down.

They cancelled before we got to go. Sent an email the day before we were supposed to go. Next time I will book elsewhere which is what we did.
Could NOT be in Jamaica and miss the chance to Go to Nine Mile!! If you have Luv for Bob it's a Must!
Clive was an excellent guide. Very personable and he pointed out a lot of cool stuff along the way. This tour was A+. Got to see bob marleys final resting place and the falls were lot of fun. Action packed day. Got to see some of real Jamaica along the way as well. I highly recommend this tour
The Falls fantastic. You stop enroute to buy shoes and phone protection. It's a MUST. Shoes were $10. Lunch. Lovely setting by the beach. Chicken and rice/salad. Fruit punch. Then 1hr 30mins up to Nine Mile, steep winding road, pot holed. Then, it is quite intimidating arrival, ushered into a den where marijuana items are offered to you whilst seated on a dirt step. Then, across the road to the Bob Marley tour. Make sure you take lots of tip money as in at least THREE places you'll be hassled to tip. The band for a few songs, the priest, when he takes two minutes to read a sermon in a chapel, and the guide who will stand with his hand out. Then at least a 2 hour drive back to Montego Bay.
Great experience the tour guide Kennedy was very informative and inclusive He made you feel welcome and also provided a hotspot for wifi which was great . Top service
Nine Mile was amazing. I'm a big Bob Marley fan. The people and our tour guide was good. Our driver was informative
Everything was wonderful. Jeremain was an excellent tour guide. It exceeded our expectations. Nine mile was my favorite part of the excursion.
So we booked this trip from Negril and it is 6 hours of traveling at least in a bus with air conditioning. It was nice to see some of the other resorts along the way and the greenery was spectacular. The stop at the duty free was nice as we needed the bathroom but I feel as if it could be done at a local spot rather than immigrants who have set up shop to make a buck and ship it out of Jamaica. I refused to spend any money there other than the water from the bar away from the "cheap" store. I've been to Dunn's River before and it is always magical. Great time and fantastic tour guide. The lunch was good as I was craving Festival since getting to Jamaica but it would be better to go to the famous Scotchie's rather than the place we went to as seeing them make the Jerk on the tin roof burners was more of a cultural thing than seeing the buffet on plastic chairs. The highlight of the trip was nine mile but wait to buy any smokes until you get inside as you can get 3 for $20 rather than the 1 "premium" for $25. But the cake was WELL worth the money. Have some as you get into the tour and when you get on the bus to go home you pass out and the trip home is A LOT quicker..lol Inside nine mile was amazing, seeing everything that you read about, learning the history and having the flaming shot at the bar as my wife did just so she could get the collector shot glass. I know this isn't the fault of the driver but on the way home our bus was hit by a taxi at a gas station and to see how unprofessional the bus driver was and the potential hazard that he put us in was not the way to finish the trip. We had our phones out to film the fight as it was almost at that point.
Dear Customer, Thanks for booking with us and sharing your experience! We just want to say that we understand the inconvenience that you must have felt on your day trip after reading it. We will always appreciate if our customers can remember the name of their driver or tour guide also the date of the tour so that we could do our investigation into these matters. We have not received any reports of accidents or incident at a gas station. I am just curious... We do not offer this day trip from Negril for the very fact that it is going to be a very long day so I am wondering if an error was made with the company that you traveled with or did you meet up with us in Montego Bay. We do our first pick up for this trip in Montego Bay and that would not be a 6 hours trip. Jamaica is the third largest Island in the Caribbean - it is very large and take a lot of time to travel around especially if you are staying in Negril. It is not always easy to find appropriate places to do restroom stops especially when traveling through the mountains so instead of having persons go in the bushes companies will recommend that the drivers make the most convenient stop. The same thing goes for the lunch stops. Lunch stop on some trips will depend on where the tour takes you and if Scotchies is within reach. We also do not want to have our customers out all day not having anything to eat so again, we suggest that our crew stop at one of the most appropriate places to have lunch - taking into consideration the some of our customers might have to eat at specific times for specific reasons. We sincerely hope that you will visit us again so we can give you a better experience! kind regards, Natalia M Manager
Our tour was cancelled 2 days before departure - Our luck a local guide could take us for the trip - and he was even more cheaper!!!
Dear Customer, Thanks for booking with us! We do apologize for your experience! This time of the year is usually pretty slow. Been in the business for many years and having lots of experiences on how the business work we always try to be proactive by giving early notice to our customers that book certain products. We did not intend to cancel 2 days before. We wanted to find out if in the event that we do not meet the minimum number of persons for the particular trip, if it would be possible to reschedule, choose another product or upgrade to a private tour. If we try to communicate early and the customer, out of fear of not getting to do the trip because of low numbers, decide to cancel, we have no choice but to oblige since we would not want to nor force our customers to go against their wishes. We always try our best to work the situation out for the good of our customers who visit our beautiful Island and want to have the time of their lives. Once again, We do apologize! We were just proactive. Kind regards, Natalia McFarlane Manager
Our tour guides picked us up on time as we had 3 more hotels to pick up from. The tour guide Tishe was informative on the way. We went to Dunn River Falls first which was never mentioned when booked. We were there for 45 minutes and the changing of clothes was so rushed that we had to change from our wet swimming gear into our clothes in the toilet of the “restaurant “ we went to for lunch. Why we couldn’t change in the changing rooms is beyond me. Wished we could of spent a little more time in Dunn’s River Falls. Lunch was fairly pleasant although it had no air conditioning and is more for the locals. Bob Marley’s tour was really good and was a bumpy ride. The guide we had for the tour was very informative and funny. Was well worth going there, especially seeing Bob Marley’s mausoleum was very emotional. Tishe the guide with us, took us straight to the marijuana sellers which may be fine for some people but I was with my teenage children so I really wished she only took the people who wanted to go. All in all it was a good trip but too many people wanting tips especially as I paid nearly £500 for my family for this trip. Tishe and the driver Jeffrey hardly said two words on the way back not even bye or thanks for the tips they received from all of us.
Dear Customer, We know you have choices so thanks for choosing Jamaica as your vacation spot! I'm glad that apart from a couple of misjudgement by the tour guide, you and your family had a wonderful time on tour. It is not mandatory for everyone to go to the Marijuana stand. You should only go if you wish to go. However, we do not recognise this product "Dunn’s river falls and Bob Marley Nine Mile with lunch". The tour might have been with another supplier. I am inviting you to continue choosing Jamaica as your number 1 vacation spot. Kind regards, Natalia McFarlane Manager
