Rafael spoke excellent English, he is very knowledgeable about the birds and trees in Curi Cancha. We were able to see many many birds due to his birding expertise. Very nice and personable guy. Highly recommend him as a guide.
Raphael was very knowledgeable and adjusted to our interests. He knew great spots to see nesting keel billed toucan and we saw bell bird as well. He explained the ecology of the forest and history of the land. We enjoyed his perspective as a local as well.
We booked with Rafael Mendes, and it was superb He is a friendly guide, with a lot of knowledge, who takes the time to search, very attentive and a lot of humor I command it very much.
We had a fantastic time! Raphael was our guide and there wasn’t a question that he could not answer. He even did the entire tour bilingually. Highly recommend, ask for Raphael!!
Rafa was an excellent guide! He spotted some amazing birds for us and also an incredibly beautiful transparent butterfly. The Three-wattled bellbird and a colibri nest were the highlight!
Basic intro but not what we expected from a cloud forest tour. Turns out we should have gone up to the longer Monteverde cloud forest tour to.likely.see more wildlife, mammals, quetzals etc. however, our guide, Rafael mendez was excellent and tried with all his might to find a quetzal for us without luck. He was also incredibly thoughtful person who provided a lot of support to our 80.year old friend who has mobility and walking issues in long distances. He was really great!
Rafael was a great help in addition to being a great guide. My dog wasn't allowed in the reserve, so he arranged for his wife to take care of her while I was on the walk. My car broke down and he found a local mechanic who worked on Saturday, which I had been unable to find myself. When I couldn't go on the walk owing to the car problem, he graciously let me schedule it for a later day. I'll let everyone else speak on how good he is on the trails. Very highly recommended.
We had a fantastic time exploring the cloud forest. We saw so many animals, and our guide, Rafael, was excellent. He shared so many interesting facts about the local plants and wildlife. Highly recommended!
Rafael was a very knowledgeable guide and gave us lots of information on the animals, birds, and plants we saw. Highly recommend. We would not have seen many creatures without him.
