Narvarte At Night: Tacos, Chelas & Mezcal

Description
Narvarte is known throughout Mexico City for its tacos, and we’ll kick off the tour with a visit to a neighborhood taquería that specializes in volcanes, a type of crispy tortilla cooked on a charcoal flame, smothered in cheese and poblano peppers. From there we’ll try tacos al pastor—picture a big outdoor roasting spit, shooting flames—and suadero tacos from vendors who’ve been in the neighborhood for decades. We’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City cantina culture, where we’ll toss back a chela, slang for cold beer, or a cocktail if you wish. And we’ll finish by trying a flight of small-batch, artisanal mezcals in a cozy neighborhood restaurant, part of a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert. If you want a tour that combines food, culture, and drinks, this is not to be missed!

Itinerary
Beyond the glitz and gloss of the Condesa/Roma sits the Narvarte, a solidly middle-class neighborhood known for its dozens of family-style taquerías and a tranquil setting that hasn’t changed much in decades. On this walking tour, we’ll show you the vibe of a typical Mexico City colonia at night, as we visit taquerías and bars, and join a local chef in a small-batch mezcal tasting.

This food tour did not disappoint. Adrian is such a warm and friendly guide, who is so clearly passionate about the culinary arts and eager to share his knowledge. The food was fantastic and they were very accommodating to my vegetarian preferences. 10/10 experience.
Hi Sharon, we're so glad to hear you enjoyed the tour and Adrian's expert guidance. Thank you for your review.
Adrien is amazing!! So kind and knowledgeable! Very
Hi Bianca! Thank you for your review and for acknowledging the work of our beloved culinary expert guide, Adrian.
Adrian was super sweet and informational. All 5 stops were excellent. Highly recommend!
Thank you for recommending our tours. Narvarte is an area we love exploring at night because of its great selection of tacos and its friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It's even better to do the tour with one of our expert culinary guides, like Adrian.
"We did the Narvarte at Night food tour last night and it was such a vibe. We wandered through a real local neighborhood, hitting up taquerías for the best street tacos — like juicy al pastor from a flaming spit and crispy volcanes loaded with cheese and peppers. The rain didn't stop us — it just added to the atmosphere, making the whole experience feel even more authentic and cozy. Adrian, our guide, was super knowledgeable about the food, the culture, and everything in between. We ended with a private mezcal tasting that was just incredible — smooth, smoky flavors paired with little appetizers. Perfect way to experience real Mexico City at night, rain and all."
Thank you for your review. It's true that Mexico City's weather can be quite unpredictable, so we recommend carrying a small umbrella and dressing in layers. We're so glad you enjoyed these authentic tacos and the mezcal tasting.
Adrian provided an awesome experience , tasting four different types of tacos - each one unique and delicious, and finishing off with an expert mezcal tasting. This tour has ruined us for NA tacos! Highly recommend this experience.
Hi! We're sorry we ruined tacos for you, but once you try the originals, it's hard to go back ;) Thanks for recommending this experience.
We had a wonderful food tour with Nico through Navarte, ending with a really insightful mescal tasting experience with Wen. The food was tasty but we also really enjoyed the history and background and Nico was brilliant company! I would recommend this tour highly!
Great tour with our guide Nico. Enjoyed tacos and capped off the night with a Mezcal tasting. Very informative and fun
We had a wonderful experience with Toti on our taco tour through Eat Mexico. We ate delicious food, learned about the history and origins of the food, and enjoyed delightful conversation. The mezcal tasting was also amazing - learning how small-batch mezcal is made and savored was a unique experience.
Absolutely brilliant tour with our local guide Yimnah. She was friendly and knowledgeable throughout, with excellent English. She met us at the first taqueria and talked us through the plan. Really good that she checked for allergies, and she made sure my wife, who can't eat gluten, was OK the whole evening. We were taken to an excellent selection of taquerias and a cantina serving food with outstanding flavours. Not being locals we would never have ventured out this far and found these places. Can't recommend this highly enough.
We had such a great time on the street food tour! We were led by Yimnah, who is super nice, very knowledgeable, interesting and clearly knows her stuff! The recommendations for the tacos were excellent, my favourite was 💯 the tripe at Taco Tony's even though it was my last one and I was pretty full by that point. Thank you for a wonderful evening, Yimnah!
