This was such a cool and unique experience. We were taken to an actual village, where we were greeted warmly by the villagers. We were given traditional Ghanaian attire to put over our clothes and beaded necklaces/bracelets,, and we participated in a pretty authentic naming ceremony complete with washing of our feet, incense, traditional colored clay on our face/hands (just a little), etc. it was cool to receive a Ghanaian name and to learn the significance of the name. We would definitely recommend this tour to those visiting Accra Ghana. The village was about 3–4 hours outside of Accra and there were some unfinished/unpaved roads along the way, so be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride at times. However, the experience was worth it.

This was the most special life event. I felt the love of the entire village. To see how they gather to celebrate my welcome back home was simple emotionally inspiring. The elders joined me to dance, drumming, educating me on the purpose of the ceremony, the culture, etc. Was a pure heartfelt ceremony. The event was well organized and prepared. The love can be felt not just only the event but also after, as days goes by I carry the most beautiful smile reminding me such beautiful moment.

Very unique and insightful experience to witness life in rural Ghana. It lasted approximately 1-1.5hr at most although the drive took about 4-5 hours round trip.

The tour operator was professional, the car was clean and air-conditioned. I felt safe with them. I would use this operator again. The ceremony was a long drive out of Accra to a small village. The people in the village were lovely and welcoming. It was a combination of elders, men, women and children. They welcomed us with a dance and song. We sat in a circle under a large tree and the host began with a pouring libation as an offering. After a 2-hour drive, the actual ceremony was about 20mins, so very over-priced in my opinion, and they asked for donations at the end too. It was then time to leave but i asked to stay and speak to the women and children for a little while, which they were gracious enough to agree to. That was beautiful! They took me to the river, showed me their homes and we cooked together. They gave us a little gift of clay pot and wooden necklace. They invited us to share what we liked about Ghana and their village, which was nice. The host translated to the local dialect, Ewe. A nice (but expensive) morning.
Hello Melissa , thanks for your words..but we were very surprised to not get the 5 stars for our services providing all you had written about what we did together... the naming ceremony is an exclusive service.. anyway thabk you very much for your kind words and hope to see you again..
The experience was wonderful and the people who performed the ceremony were welcoming and festive. I was expecting a different kind of ceremony, not one out at an actual village
Hello Tom, We are happy you liked the whole show after all. We actually wanted to give you an original naming ceremony that is done in a village, not something indoors in Accra. You had the opportunity to meet the whole eldest and older women from that village, and that is the best experience of reconnection to your roots. For your condition, you wanted to just stay indoors, and we didn't understand this from the start. Anyway, thanks overall for booking us. We appreciate your feedback...
