Don’t bother! SO overrated

Absolutely a waste of time and money! Don’t bother! Staff tries too hard with their spiel and it is corny, ice cream was just ok.

Customer service unresponsive

I visited the Chicago location and paid $63 for a single-admission ticket. I was looking forward to the full experience, including the ability to get any flavor of ice cream I wanted from the main case, as this is advertised and included with the ticket price. Unfortunately, upon arrival I was informed that the main freezer/case had broken, so there was no ice cream available from that location (see attached photo). I was only able to have the ice creams provided in the various rooms. There was no separate line or alternative setup for the main offerings, and the attraction was effectively shut down for the entirety of my visit. This significantly impacted the value of my $63 ticket, as the unlimited/custom ice cream from the main case was a major part of what I expected and paid for. I didn’t get to try the flavor of the day or the Chicago hot dog ice cream. I am requesting a full refund for my ticket as a party of one. Upon writing the company I was told that someone would be in touch and it’s been over a week with zero communication. I’ve followed up twice. Zero response.

Not suitable for kids on the spectrum

This place is a cute idea, but I agree with the other reviews that this place is more geared towards little kids and not that much fun for teens or adults. The actual information about the history of ice cream was poorly displayed and in teeny tiny print. My biggest issue - it's NOT friendly for kids with autism. It's total sensory overload. I get it, that's just how this "museum" is, but a warning would have been good that it's not suitable for people with sensitivities to loud noise, bright lights, crowded areas, and a shocking amount of bright pink all over the place. The "quiet areas" were a joke - a corner in a throughway between two of the noisy rooms. We were in and out in 30 minutes.

Probably Wouldn't Do it Again

Not enough samples to justify admission fee. Took 15mins to walk through and that included waiting on lines for samples. An experience really for young kids. Lots of staff to keep the place clean. Individuals such as Sugar Plum and Cecilia made the experience enjoyable.

We enjoyed the visit, however, the target audience is for children. We were a party of 7 adults. There really wasn’t a big selection of flavors available that day. No vanilla was offered.

Very PINK! OK. Staff very nice and welcoming.

Fun and interesting, not exactly new idea though. Thought the train idea in beginning weak. I booked with the understanding that ice cream was unlimited, however it probably was but only of flavors offered. I had 6 of 8 ones offered. One small cone and 5 very small cups. The last room had 1 sample and all other flavors you had to purchase. At that point kinda embarrassing to go back into other rooms! My 15 year old enjoyed and we both had a good time.

Operator response

You’ve got a great point about the experience flow—especially how the ice cream availability felt in the later rooms. It’s wonderful to hear you and your 15-year-old both had a good time overall. We appreciate you sharing these details from your visit to the Museum of Ice Cream, and we’ll use your feedback as we keep improving.

Not worth it

It was NOT worth the price. The rooms are small, and there's not much to do at all. You spend most of your time waiting in line. My kids (13 &10) were not impressed at all.
