Muir Woods and Sausalito Afternoon Tour Small-Group Half-Day

Description
Join us for a narrated and scenic drive from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, explore the beauty of Giant Coastal Redwoods at Muir Woods, and appreciate the astonishing views from Sausalito's picturesque waterfront. On the way to the Woods, we usually make a short stop on the Northern side of the Golden Gate Bridge. We will spend one hour and twenty minutes in the Muir Woods and about one hour in Sausalito. Then we will take you back to your hotel. Should you decide to stay there longer, you can return to the city by Ferry or Uber. Ferry tickets are not included. We also run this tour in the morning, if there is a sufficient number of people. Muir Wood tour can be combined with a San Francisco City tour and/or Half Day Wine Tour to Sonoma.

Itinerary
Ride from your hotels downtown or FIsherman's Wharf to the Northern Side of the Golden Gate Bridge
Go through the city and listen to the narrated tour. From Union Square to the Wharf to the Bridge. On your way you will pass by The Palace of Fine Arts was built for Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake.
Drive through the oldest part of the city, the Presidio. See the new Presidio Highway, the Tunnel Top Gardens, and the Crissy Field, Air Force base during WWII.
Cross the most famous Bridge on Earth and enjoy stunning views of the Pacific, the Marin Headlands on your left, and the SF Bay on your right. It was opened in 1937 and is painted orange-red to be more visible in the fog. Make a short stop at the Vista Point on the Northern side and take pictures of the Bridge, the bay, Fort Baker, and downtown SF. See The Lone Sailor, a bronze sculpture, tribute to all who have served or are currently serving in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marine.

Enjoy the natural beauty of Coastal Sequoias! It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast in SW Marin County and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just 12 miles (19 km) north of SF. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old-growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, the tallest living objects on Earth. Due to its proximity to the Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. It remains cool and moist year-round with daytime temperatures averaging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 21 °C). Millions of years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey County, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.
Ride from Muir Woods to Sausalito. Listen to the history of Sausalito on your way to this beautiful town just north of the Golden Gate Bridge
