Make sure to get cogwheel reservations ahead of time, in addition to your ticket. It was hot in Lucerne, but pleasantly cool at Pilatus Klum.
It is not described thoroughly. I had to go on ChatGPT to figure out how to navigate. You need to write out an easy step step way to get the train tickets and that there are 2 starting spots. Poorly organized by viator
This was a brilliant experience. Thanks to the reviews I selected to do the boat trip first. I knew the trip was unaccompanied and I planned the boat trip timings and booked the cogwheel seat. The route isn’t complicated and if the instructions had version A and version B it would be even more straight forward. My son chose to do the toboggan ride at the dragon ride section around 14:00 and this had a 60-75 minutes wait. I was told at the cafe it was better to do this 10-12 am so maybe the trip with the boat trip at the end might be best if you plan to do activities.
What a wonderful experience. We purchased the golden ticket which includes the boat tour. Boat, cogwheel, top of Mt. Pilatus then down by gondola, tram and bus back to Lucerne. You can do vice versa. Follow signs and you should be fine. Ask questions as people are friendly and will help. The views are amazing and I was pleasantly surprised by all of the hikers. Also a must is the Lion Monument and chapel bridge. Both full of history.
You are on your own. There is no guide but the ease of having the pass for these activities is definitely worth it.
Great experience- a lot of fun. Started early as to beat the crowds. Must do if here in the area
A great day!! Did the lake cruise first, would always choose to organize the day in that order. Be sure to get your funicular ticket early.
I thought this was a tour and not self guided. Luckily we got some directions from strangers and made I through.
Took the world's steepest cogwheel railroad 7,000 feet up to the summit. When we were half way up to the summit, our train stopped and only the people in the first train had a moment to take a pic. The windows in all cars can be lowered to take pictures so bring your phones and cameras. It took 17 minutes to get to the top. We had 2.5 hours to explore and it wasn't enough. The viewpoints and outdoor trials were all worth doing. The light changes quickly so you have to seize the moment as it is all stunning. We returned down the mountain by cablecar.
Overall value add is a single ticket avoids buying tickets at multiple places. However, being self guided, more detailed instructions would have been helpful.
