We recently did the Ubud to Kawah Ijen trip and it exceeded all expectations from start to finish. Our driver, Dek, made the journey so easy — smooth, relaxed, and well organised the whole way. When we reached the ferry crossing, a porter helps you cross the ferry. On the other side, our second driver took us up to the mountain and was brilliant — friendly, safety-conscious, and clearly experienced with the route up to Ijen. They help you get the medical certificate on the way and that's all organised too and takes five minutes. A highlight was our guide Sugi, who led us on the trek up the mountain to see the famous blue flames. Sugi was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure we felt safe and supported the entire way, especially navigating the trickier sections in the dark near the gas and flames. Seeing the blue flames up close was unforgettable, and Sugi's guidance made the whole experience even more special. The blue flames are unreal, and also seeing the gas lume in the dark was intimidating at first but really cool when you're close. The sunrise was probably the best view I have ever seen. You see the sunrise break over the horizon to reveal the blue coast and jungle shoreline and then you just turn to your right and you can see the acidic lake, sulfur gas plume, and volcanoes in the background with the moon still out. It's unreal. From the driver, to the porter, to the second driver, and finally Sugi's expert guiding — every part of this trip was seamless and well looked after. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Note - it's obviously exhausting by the end of it since you're coming from Ubud and it's a 22 hour round trip and around 24,000 steps, but if you're up for adventure it's worth it.

Our tour guide Jai was amazing . He was energetic and brought our spirits up during the hike . He was very attentive to all of us and helped us during the hike whenever there were slippery moments as it was raining during our hike . His energy made the hike a lot more easier and fun! The drivers were also amazing and there was a driver from UBUD to the port , and then another driver to the health certificate and the beginning of the hike of ijen. All the drivers were so lovely and friendly with a lovely smile on their face . Jai also stopped at many picture points and would take lots of pictures and videos for us without asking. Thank you for this amazing experience , I would definitely recommend if you’re fit and healthy !
Love this tour. The views are amazing and we had such a wonderful experience. Drivers to and from our hotel, a yummy breakfast after our hike and our favorite part our guide Jay! Jay was so awesome he was patient, funny and great with the camera!
Dear Laura, Wow that's amazing for us. Please shared this tour to your friend of coming to Bali. The mount Ijen volcano is the most phenomenal in the world. Hope you coming back again. Thank you so much for booked with Como Bali Tour. Warmest Regards, Wayan
We had the sweetest driver Dewa, who took us from Canggu to the harbor. Awesome guy with awesome taste in music. Zai was our guide for the hike up Ijen, and he was also amazing. He took sooo many pictures and videos for us and made a video at the end compiling everything. He’s got TALENT. If you’re wanting to have your own personal professional photographer, go with Zai! Highly recommend this tour and these lovely people.
This tour was awesome! It is a tiring experience, as it takes like 24h from start to finish, but the way up and down Ijen is okay. There's diferente drivers and a guide, all were great and on time. Zai was our guide there and helped a lot!!! He was super attentive, helping me not to fall and making sure I was able to follow up and he let me take breaks whenever I wanted on the hike. Besides that, he was super friendly and funny, making the hike more fun! Down at the volcano crater, sometimes theres wind and so the toxic smoke can be directly in your face. Zai made sure we didnt panick and let us know If It was safe or not. Great overall!
Dear Mariana, Thank you so much for shared your experience. We are really happy to organised your mount ijen tour from ubud. Have a good holiday in bali. Warmest Regards, Wayan
The experience was absolutely amazing! I booked for me and my wife as soon as we got to Bali and all was perfectly scheduled in order to have an awesome tour to the Ijen and see the blue flame! Wayan was our driver from the hotel in Bali to the Gilimanuk port, he drove us perfect on time despite terrible traffic jams. We managed also to have a quick dinner on the road, amazing Mie Goreng. Once arrived in Giava the second driver took us to a quick medical check and to the base camp where we met Ikrom, a young and super nice guide that took us on the top of the mountain and then to the blue flames safely, giving us every information and explanation we asked for. The base camp can provide hot drinks and food, and you can rent also a jacket (it’s pretty cold and windy on the top, better get ready with hiking shoes and proper clothes). The hike started at 1.30 am and was pretty intense (about 800 meters of difference in height from the base camp to the top) but the night was beautiful and the sky was full of stars. Ikram set the right pace for us so we managed to go up quickly and get to the blue flames before the sunrise. That’s not obvious because there are a lot of people and traffic jams form along the way down to the lake. Ikrom is also a great photographer and took wonderful photos and videos of us. After the sunset we start to descend and we got to the base camp at 6.30 am. We had a tasteful typical Balinese breakfast and we got on the car again towards the port, took the ferry and reached Bali again, where Wayan was waiting for us to take us back to the hotel. For the return Wayan followed the waterfront road north of the island, we stopped for a great lunch on the beach and to see the lakes from above in the village of Monduk and finally arrived at the hotel perfectly on time. It was an amazing trip and we really hope to see Ikrom and Wayan again!!
The tour was 10/10 - the highlight of our trip to Bali! The transport was seamless - from the driver in Bali, to the escort across to Java (in the boat to make sure we arrived safely), then the driver in Java - it was an easy experience. Our guide for Ijen was Zai. He was very sweet and supportive. Zai spoke good English and was very knowledgeable about Ijen. We had climbed Batur a few days before so we were tired - Zai was encouraging but very patient and went at a pace suited to us and listened to how we were coping with the climb. He knew the best spots to rest and the best spots to take photos, and he took lots of photos / videos of us and even edited a video of our experience getting us through crowds which we wouldn’t have been able to do ourselves. My partner did struggle with the climb on the return part and he was exceptional with his advice and always made sure we were safe as some parts of the decent into the crater are quite dangerous. Simply put, our experience wouldn’t have been the same without Zai. We would highly recommend this tour!
Such a cool experience with an awesome guide! Dhani was so awesome and informative and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
Amazing views, Once in a lifetime experience! Our guide Harit was so knowledgeable and amazing ! The view was beautiful
