Hammam Mouassine is part of the "Mouassine" complex, one of the largest and oldest complexes in Marrakech, built by the Saadian dynasty starting from 1562. Experience the true Traditional Moroccan Hammam, a tradition that is still very much alive during your stay in Marrakech. Immerse yourself in Moroccan culture by choosing the hammam, just as the local residents do. You will be in the hands of genuine professionals and will experience the bliss of relaxation through manual therapies, thanks to the benefits of the black soap scrub. Horrible service

I visited today and was looking forward to enjoying the traditional hammam with my daughter. As a Moroccan, I expected to pay the local entry price. However, I was told that because my daughter does not speak proper Moroccan Arabic, she was considered a tourist. I explained that I only wanted to pay the standard entry fee and was not interested in any package, but the receptionist told me we were not allowed to enter unless I paid the higher tourist price. What upset me most was being told that because I live in Europe, European pricing applied to me as well. I am Moroccan, and when I visit my country, I expect to be treated as a local, not charged tourist rates because of where I live. The staff were lovely, friendly, and welcoming. Unfortunately, the pricing policy and the way it was applied left me feeling disappointed and treated unfairly. ☹️

1 Star out of 5 (And only because I can't give zero)

Title: "Escape from Rebibbia?" No, an afternoon of relaxation." If your dream has always been to experience the thrill of being imprisoned in the dungeons of the Château d'If alongside the Count of Monte Cristo, this is definitely the place for you. If, on the other hand, you were looking for a hammam, run away as fast as you can. As soon as you cross the threshold, the "wellness" atmosphere is immediately replaced by that of a 1970s horror B-movie. The humidity is not that pleasant therapeutic steam that opens your pores, but a thick and unhealthy fog that faintly smells of century-old mold and shattered dreams. The details of the "terror": Hygiene: Describing this place as "dilapidated" is a generous compliment. The tiles, which were probably white at one time, have developed their own flourishing ecosystem. There were stains on the walls that seemed to want to greet me. I seriously feared that by exfoliating my skin, I would contract tetanus directly through osmosis. The location: The dim lights do not serve to create an atmosphere; they serve to hide the decay. The rooms literally resemble medieval dungeons where prisoners were forgotten by the world. At one point, I looked at a dark corner expecting to see Abbot Faria emerge with a spoon to dig a tunnel in the wall. The service: The staff has the same empathy as the jailers of the Bastille. They indicate the rooms with nods of the head that imply a warm "go in there and hope to come out alive." The verdict: I entered to purify my body, and I came out needing an exorcism, a course of broad-spectrum antibiotics, and a strong hug. If you want a horror experience, save your money and watch Saw - The Puzzle Maker comfortably on your clean couch. A nightmare.

Traditional Hammam

I absolutely loved my experience at Hammam Moussaini. After four days in the Atlas Mountains, I was looking for a traditional hammam to relax, and the staff at my riad recommended this place. It turned out to be a wonderful choice. Bouchyia treated me with great kindness, using the traditional glove, black soap, and grey clay. During the treatment, she even sang beautifully, which added a very special touch to the experience—I found it almost hypnotic. The atmosphere of the hammam is intense yet deeply relaxing. I also added a back and neck massage afterward, and everything was perfect. The staff are gentle, attentive, and professional. I highly recommend this hammam for an authentic and rejuvenating experience.

Would never recommend to anyone and money NOT well spent

The experience was unenjoyable…sitting on a floor is not great…the booking was for a 1hr massage but was then told the staff could only do 45 mins. The massage area is not private and the attendants were talking throughout the experience…not to mention, if anyone needed to use the toilet, they would knock into my bed and you could hear them. 1/5

Fantastic experience

This is one of our highlights of the trip and we would recommend it to everyone. It was very traditional hammam experience and should not be confused with a spa treatment - for us this made it quite a unique thing to do. All the ladies that worked there made us feel very welcome and comfortable. They were professional and normalized the experience even for two English girls who would normally be a little more conservative. We have never felt so thoroughly cleaned by another person, it is truly a top to toe cleansing experience and our skin has never felt softer. Things to note: -You will likely only have your bikini bottoms on, this is very very normal and everyone is in the same position as you. - it's a little confusing on what or where you should be but the ladies will generally point where you need to go. - it lasts a bit longer than 40mins. Ours was around 90 mins (including getting changed before and after) 10/10 experience and we will be doing this again.

Amazing HAMMAN experience

Men - DO NOT walk into the women’s section. They are separate !! Also, ladies .. take off your underwear…. If you are comfortable with that. Or bring a spare pair to wear after the experience There was a wedding party when I went and what a bunch of fun. Literally a little dance party broke out as we were all dressed and leaving ….. what an amazing time People are kind and welcoming

Experience a proper hamman

It was a proper experience, you can imagine the women for 1000’s of years comming here. No airs or graces here, get naked, get scrubbed, bake until done, get washed again. You can imagine the gossip and the first wives denouncing the second etc, gossip would have been currency here. Not disappointed at all, but leave your western hygiene standards at the door. Woman in in her 60 now feels somewhat younger

Authenticity yes, lack of hygiene no!

Unfortunately I had not read the reviews before booking the experience via tripadvisor. The welcome is cold, no individual changing room and all the women together. So far, don't worry, that's the principle. The ladies who take care of us are kind, I hope they are paid equal to the difficulty of the job: working in the dark, always wet, rubbing bodies hard. Where the beating hurts is the lack of hygiene, as mentioned in the other comments. At 15th per person, we are entitled to have clean towels and that are attributed to us only. Floor mats like crockery are old, we step on them, lie on them... it's more than average. The shower flower passes from body to body. In short for an experience sold by tripadvisor I expected something much better, both for the lack of character of the place and for the hygiene.
