Gem of Venice, Piazza San Marco is one of the must-sees places if you're visiting this beautiful city.

Admission included60 min

Seat of Venetian doges, hence the name Palazzo Ducale.

Pass by

Marco Polo was an Italian traveller, writer, ambassador and merchant. The report of his travels in the Far East is collected in the work Il Milione, a veritable geographical encyclopaedia that brings together the essential knowledge available in Europe at the end of the 13th century about Asia.

Admission not included10 min

The basilica of Saints John and Paul is one of the most impressive medieval religious buildings in Venice, together with the basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. It is considered the pantheon of Venice due to the large number of Venetian doges and other important figures who have been buried there since the 13th century. It stands in the campo of the same name, in the Castello district. In September 1922 Pope Pius XI elevated it to the dignity of a minor basilica.

10 min

Campo Santa Maria Formosa is a campo in Venice, located in the Castello district. It is one of the largest squares in the city: a total of nine calli and eleven bridges (some of which simply connect the entrances to the palaces) branch off from it. The name is due to the presence of the church of Santa Maria Formosa.

Okay Tour

Wasn’t my favorite tour but wasn’t my least favorite. Overall, the walking tour section wasn’t too packed with information, but doge’s palace part was good.

Very nice guide and breathtaking impressions!

We booked the German tour. We started with a walk through Venice, where we saw some sights we already knew and now got interesting information about them. Our guide, Veronica, was extremely sympathetic, spoke very good German and gave us nice insights into contemporary and historical life in Venice. In addition, we got to know many new points and sights that we would certainly never have found on our own. Thanks again to Veronica, that was a very nice tour! Then we went with Veronica to the Doge's Palace. This one is enormously impressive and defies contrasts. Power and pomp on the one hand in a wealth of detail that you feel you could spend a whole day in any room and then the dark prison rooms with the Bridge of Sighs in contrast.

Great visit. Interesting guides

Walk and visit the palace of interesting dogs. We had 2 different guides for the two successive visits, and both were very interesting.

Excellent guide for a splendid visit

Very happy with this visit made at the end of August. The organization may seem risky at first. Meet under the clock tower with employees dressed in blue. Many groups meet in the same place at the same time, and receive an audiophone each. Each guide ends up with a sign indicating a number that we can easily find. The French group was very small compared to the other groups, we were 8 with the guide which was very comfortable. The guide, Gloria, was very comfortable in French, and very interesting. With great patience, managing to take cover despite the rain, adapting his step to children, teens and older. Rich in comments, being Venetian by origin, she made us discover her city with a lot of love and knowledge. We found ourselves in the starting place to leave with another group, this time larger, to visit the dog palace. We waited about 15 minutes for the new distribution of groups. Some of them go by gondola, or somewhere else. The Dog Palace is splendid, and Gloria once again shared with us her knowledge of the palace with great precision. Thank you to her for those 3 hours spent in her company.

Informative tour with nice guide and technical problems

The walking tour through Venice in the morning was informative and cosy in a small group of approximately 10 people. our guide was a venician woman, who also told us some free tourist hacks like cheap bars and free toilets. Also the tour in doges palace was nicely done. The only thing, that was not good about the tour was the broken microphone of the guide. Sometimes her voice was too low volume to unterstand.

Operator response

Dear 920stephanie, we are pleased you appreciated the tour despite the inconvenience with the microphone of the guide. Unfortunately, sometimes, there may be little technical problems that cannot be promptly fixed during the tour. Thank you for your understanding! Best regards, Elisa Franzoi venetoinside.com

Great way to see Venice
Do this on your first day and get a great lay of the land and landmarks
Guide was very informative and kept an even pace during the tour
Many many groups meet in the square so get there on time and pay attention to who goes where
As groups get moved around and the second part of our tour the dodges palace was a different group of people.
