Itinerary
Once in Barcelona Nord Bus Station, check-in at our Castlexperience office.
Enjoy a guided tour in Montserrat and visit all the highlights of the monastery by the hand of your local tour guide. You will then enjoy some free time to a palate some traditional foods made by Montserrat monks or farmers, as well as soaking in this special place where nature, culture and spirituality meet. Meet your tour guide again to get on board for the second part of the tour. Oller del Mas cellar awaits!
Set within a 10th-century castle, Oller del Mas is not a common winery – its superb ecological wines have earned plenty of awards in the recent years. In fact, one of its wines won the “Best Wine in Catalonia” award in 2018. But the cellar is not only special for its wines. You will take a stroll by the vineyards, learn how the wine is made, and discover all of its secrets. The winery has revived ancient local grape varieties, providing a unique glimpse into the region's heritage. *We work daily with different low-production, family-owned boutique wineries. Due to logistic reasons, you might visit another cellar instead of Oller del Mas.

Jerai was a great guide for our trip to Montserrat. He gave a great synopsis of the history of Catalonia and specifically Barcelona and Montserrat. The cogwheel train was modern and fast. The basilica was interesting. At the basilica, we also went into the art museum. It was really nice. We did not do the wine tasting or lunch but there were opportunities at the top of the mountain to eat. Overall a great way to spend half a day!
Carla as awesome! Super knowledgeable and helpful. She made the tour a day to remember
Entienne was fantastic!! Very knowledgeable and kept a good pace. Perfect amount of free time and learning.
Thaís was absolutely wonderful! She greatly improved my experience and was so funny, helpful, and informative! Beautiful views and a wonderful time!
We learned more about wine today than we have in many wine tastings combined. Thais was educational and very organized. We enjoyed our day
Montserrat is a truly special place to visit and I am glad we went on this tour! I gave it 3 stars only because there was not enough time to properly visit the place. Our voucher mentioned a 6 hr tour, and it was not mentioned that the travel by couch was included in the 6 hrs :( All in all, we left Barcelona 10 min late and got back 30min earlier - we spent a total of 5 hrs on this tour (9:55- 2:55 pm). Between thie shortened overall time and other tourists in the group being late at meeting points, we ended up with only 1 hour to visit the basilica, see the Black Madonna, visit the rest of the place and have lunch. It felt rushed and frustrating! I would spend at least 3 hours up at the monastery to take in the beauty and spirituality, to hike to the cross and back, and perhaps visit the museum and/ or the cave where the Madonna was found.
