Experience a 1.5-hour Misty Fjords flightseeing tour with Seawind Aviation aboard our classic DeHavilland Otter or Beaver seaplanes. Just a short flight from Ketchikan, you’ll soar above towering 3,000-foot granite walls, deep fjords carved by ancient glaciers, misty peaks, waterfalls, and lush forested slopes. We’ll touch down on a remote mountain lake or calm saltwater inlet for a 20-minute stop, giving you the chance to step out onto the floats and take in the stillness of this pristine wilderness up close. After returning to Ketchikan, we’ll bring you back to the downtown cruise ship docks in plenty of time to board. Norwegian Cruise Line guests who are docked at Ward Cove (20 min outside Ketchikan) will be dropped at the free shuttle stop for easy transport back to their ship.

Pickup – 30 Minutes Before Departure We pick passengers up at the downtown Ketchikan cruise ship docks 30 minutes before departure and take you to our seaplane base. Departure & Scenic Flight Board your DeHavilland Otter or Beaver for a 1.5-hour flightseeing tour. Aerial Views of Misty Fjords Use your two-way headset to chat with your pilot as you soar above 3,000-foot granite walls, glacier-carved fjords, and the dramatic scenery that defines Misty Fjords. 20-Minute Remote Water Landing Your pilot touches down on a calm mountain lake or saltwater inlet. With the engine off, step onto the floats and take in the quiet beauty of Misty Fjords up close. Return to Ketchikan After your flight, we return guests to the downtown cruise ship docks in plenty of time to board. Norwegian Cruise Line passengers sailing from Ward Cove (20 min outside of Ketchikan) will be dropped at the free shuttle stop for easy transport back to their ship.

The Seawind Aviation Van is a white transit van with the Seawind logo on both side of van. Ketchikan Visitors Bureau/Berth 2 pickup: we will be parked in the shuttle bus parking lot. Berth 4: we will be parked in the bus parking lot behind sales booths.

Expensive but I honestly felt it was worth it, especially having gotten a small discount via a code. What a brilliant, beautiful experience though. Super communicative staff who responded promptly to all my inquiries and the pilot was wonderful, as well. Length of the tour was great and the water landing really makes it something special. Just the right number of passengers so everyone has a window seat and is comfortable in the plane, not cramped at all. I was with a cruise and by the time I'd gotten back from this tour, the cruise line had cancelled all their flight excursions due to weather. So I was certainly the lucky one. If you can handle the cost, I say go for it!

Flying in a seaplane in Alaska was a bucket list item for me and Seawind Aviation did not disappoint! Pilot was great, knowledgeable and very friendly. Lots to see, we had a thrilling landing on a remote lake. Would highly recommend it

Had a wonderful excursion! saw a rare bubble feeding and several breeches! We also saw orcas and a momma bear with her cub on the shoreline! Even the boat operators said it was one of the best trips they had in several years!!
We got so lucky. Wildlife is never guaranteed and surely Humpbacks bubble feeding and a momma bear and cub are the icing on the cake.
Taking off and landing in a seaplane is something I never thought I would do, but so glad we did. The scenery was fantastic and my husband was in the co-pilot’s seat so his vantage point was spectacular. Of course, you are seated according to weight so you have no control over where you sit, but the best views are near the front where the big windows are. I was in the back and could see but my view was not as good as the front seats with the double windows. Still a great experience. Our pilot, Eric, was fantastic too, giving information and telling us what we were seeing as we flew. We were picked up at our cruise ship berth, which was very nice, but it is just a very quick 2 minute walk from berth 4.
The booking process was super easy, we were collected exactly were told we would be, on time and by a friendly and professional driver. The preflight experience was very good. The highlight of course was the flight itself, the pilot was informative and super professional and the views and overall experience was incredible. One of those things that will stay with us for ever.

Fantastic morning!The small airplane was very comfortable and we felt very safe. The takeoff and landing in the lake was very smooth. We saw amazing scenery and beautiful untouched wilderness. All of the staff involved were great . We highly recommend this company and this excursion.
