Enjoy this trip to The Miravalles where you will observe a volcano’s active crater with mud pots and temperatures ranging from 104º to 212º F (40º to 100º C). You can make use of the mud baths in the outdoor/natural spa, sauna, and three thermal pools where you can take advantage of the wealth of properties that these waters of volcanic origin have.

During this day trip you will be able to see the smoke, hot stones and crystallized sulfur among other scenic beauties of the Miravalles Volcano. An untamed mountain covered in rainforest will let us safely visit the only walk-able crater in Costa Rica. The first stop on the drive to the volcano, will be to visit one of the country's most beautiful waterfalls Llanos del Cortez see picture profile (Additional charge $7 cash adult- $4 cash children) and if you would like to, you can bring your swimsuits and swim under the majestic water curtain. Next stop will be the crater at Miravalles, where you will see lots of geothermal activity and sense the mighty power from below us. You will have a volcanic mud bath and relax in the hot springs before lunch and then you will experience the tropical rainforest on a moderate hike along some breathtaking hanging-bridges and three more waterfalls ( Included on the package). This is a day full of waterfalls and volcano experience. Bubbling mud pools: The bubbling mud pools are holes that contain clay mud. These mud pools, which also have sulfured thermal waters, all have different temperatures:176º, 212º and 392º F (80º, 100º and 200ºC). This mud is odorless and can be found in three different colors: gray, brown and yellow. The coloration indicates how deep the pool is: The brown mud indicates a depth of two meters, the gray mud a depth of one meter and the yellow mud indicates the mud is from the surface and is full of sulfur. You can select the clay in which you want to bath and then obtain it from the bubbling mud pool. Whilst waiting 15 or 20 minutes for the clay to cool you down, you can enjoy one of the greatest marvels in the world. After bathing in this volcanic mud your skin will be left feeling fresh and smooth. What to bring? Don't forget your swimming suit, hiking shoes, sandals, change of clothing, binoculars, camera, sunblock, money and a hat. Carlos was a great guide! We loved the cable bridges and waterfalls! Lunch was good. We saw 2 sloths and some howler monkeys.

The guide was very informative and nice. The hike felt a little rushed. And advertising a volcano, and not getting to get to hike it or get close to it was disappointing. The water fall and views were beautiful. The hot springs experience was nice, but also felt rushed. The wildlife was awesome to see.

This was the last stop on our tour that started at the sloth sanctuary and went to the coffee and chocolate farm and then ended with the waterfall. We walked down the steps into the waterfall area, which was beautiful, but really just stayed about 20 minutes or so then left.
This reviews does not reflect our tour. First of all, we do not offer coffee or chocolate tours on this tour. This person chose the wrong company for this reviewed. Judge for yourselves by reading the tour description, which does not mention anything about chocolate or coffee tours. We reported the comment to Tripadvisor but it was so poor that they decided to stay, They did not take the minimum time to investigate, but 5 minutes after reporting, they responded that they had investigated, which they did not. It's frustrating to know that anyone can comment on your business and harm you, and Trip Advisor doesn't help you at all. I don't recommend anyone work with Trip Advisor or Viator...scam. I suggest you book directly with the company.
Our guide was great and very informative about the area. I loved crossing the swinging bridge to get to the waterfall. The authentic Costa Rican lunch was great as were the hot springs and mud bath.

For our last day in Costa Rica we decided to have a full day out to see the Miravalles Volcano and springs as well as tour the waterfalls (with an additional stop to see the Llanos del Cortez waterfalls on the way). A well organised tour with decent lunch and mix of sightseeing and spa activities at the volcano itself. Our 6 year old enjoyed the day especially the short hike to the Miravalles waterfalls. Andreas was our guide and looked after us for the day. Would definitely recommend this activity.
