Mexican Cooking Class with Food Market Visit in Mexico City

This was an AWESOME experience. Everything about it was just great. We went to the market to pick up the food which was fun! Making the food was great. Jose made sure everyone was involved and we learned so much! The food was excellent and he made sure at the beginning that there were not food allergies and checked everyone preferences to make sure to adjust the meal as needed. 10/10 would recommend!

Jose was great! The market was close by and the food we made was delicious. I have never tasted Mexican food so good. Highly recommend.

This was a wonderful experience. Starting with a trip to the market to buy groceries, we learned to select the freshest fruit and vegetables. Upon returning to the kitchen, we followed easy to understand instructions from an experienced chef. We created our entrées and starters from scratch - all were delicious. These were "hands on" instructions and were taylored for our level of experience in the kitchen. Following the class, we received the recipes via email. I learned so much in this class and am confident in my ability to recreate the dishes. It was a fantastic experience - Chef Jose was engaging and fun to learn from. I highly recommend this class. It was definitely worth the price.

The cooking class was amazing. The tour at the start was a nice introduction and to see how locals shop. The class itself is something that we won't forget. Jose had patience and a way of making it all seem so easy. As for the food, it was devine. Could not fault it. Would highly recommend

We recently traveled to Mexico City and wanted to truly immerse ourselves in the history and culture of its people. What better way to do that than through a hands-on cooking experience? We were warmly welcomed by Chef Jose, who graciously allowed us to join the class—even though we arrived about 15 minutes late thanks to Mexico City traffic (which, by the way, is not for the faint of heart!). From the start, his kindness and hospitality set the tone for an incredible experience. Chef Jose guided us through a local market, sharing his knowledge of the region’s fresh produce, herbs, and meats. He gave us time to explore on our own, taking in the vibrant energy and offerings of the market before heading back to his home, where the class took place. Once there, he walked us through the menu using the ingredients we helped select. He was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient, explaining each step from start to finish in a way that made the experience approachable and fun. We were fully involved taking turns preparing each dish and truly learning the techniques behind them. From fresh tortillas and salsa to guacamole, vegetarian soup, tacos, and enchiladas, every dish felt authentic and full of flavor. Sitting down together to enjoy the four-course meal we helped create was the perfect ending—and it was absolutely delicious. This is truly a must-do experience in Mexico City if you want to connect with the culture in a meaningful way. Thank you, Chef Jose, for such a memorable and rewarding experience.

We loved this cooking class! You start off with a little tour around the market to pick up some items. Ileana was great and shared so much knowledge about Mexican cuisine. This was completely hands on, she had all of us doing something at all times. Everything we cooked was phenomenal. It was probably one of my favorite meals I ate in Mexico and I went to two Michelin restaurants:)

An experience I’ll always remember. Jose is a great communicator and personable. He promised to teach me the tips and tricks of techniques and he delivered. Our shopping trip was educational. The market is extraordinary. I recommend it for a group or solo travelers.
