Mercadante Forest : excursion in Alta Murgia National Park
Description
We will enter the Mercadante Forest, an area of 1300 hectares in the Alta Murgia National Park between the territories of Cassano delle Murge and Altamura. Walking along paths lined DA Aleppo pines and cypresses, we will reach the bottom of a karst blade in which a monumental centuries-old oak is hidden, after admiring it, we will take a break in the shade of large nuts near the ancient cistern of the Hermitage of St. Anthony, built in the sixteenth century. On the way back, at the end of the excursion, there will be the opportunity to enjoy a delicious yogurt made from goat's milk in a cheese bar dedicated to cheese, immersed in the forest.

Inside the Mercadante Forest, we will walk along a karst blade, typical of the Murgian landscape, to reach the monumental oak and finally visit from the outside the Hermitage of St. Anthony of the sixteenth century.

The meeting place will be specified by phone based on your ability to reach the pick-up point. It can take place in Via Convento, easily reachable on foot following the signs of the Cammino Materano or by bus from other cities such as Bari.
