Mdina, Dingli cliffs and San Anton Gardens guided tour

Description
This half day guided tour will start with a tour of Malta’s medieval city of Mdina, Malta’s former capital. The narrow, winding streets, dating back to the Arab period, lead to the imposing bastions, commanding a panoramic view of the islands. On the way there, you will discover different styles of architecture, including the medieval Siculo-Norman palaces, and other baroque buildings of great historical importance. Time stands still in this ‘Silent City’ which is a film-maker’s paradise. Leaving Mdina through Greek’s Gate, we proceed to the cliffs at Dingli. The tour ends with a visit to the San Anton botanical gardens situated near the Presidential Palace, which you will be able to admire from outside.

We missed out meeting point. We were unable to connect thru WhatsApp. From the pictures sent it looked like we were in the correct area. Once we came out we wonder now if we should have turned left instead of right.
This half day tour of the gardens, Dingli Cliffs and Mdina is terrific. I’m so glad we did it. We almost missed the bus as I didn’t check the app for when we were to be picked up, so make sure you do that. If you’re lucky enough to have Maria as your guide then you’re in for a terrific day. She’s awesome! Mdina is a must see (but VERY touristy!!!)
We did the half-day tour, and good thing... From 8:40 we were picked up until 10:00 we did not start the tour, because we had to wait for bus transfers. The guide did not know Spanish, and "Fernando" gave the right explanations, simply dedicated himself to reading the posters. We were very sorry to have wasted so much time on this tour without having profited. In my opinion, it is more advisable to dedicate yourself to see Mdina and enjoy the site.
We were left waiting for our pickup with no update from the tour operator for a half hour. Then we were taken to another spot to change buses. We booked an English tour but were added on to a group from Germany so we got all the explanations twice. It seemed that the tour guide was only interested in stopping at every church there was and little else. At least a bathroom stop in the 4+ hours would have been helpful. Overall no a very good tour.
Amazing views and the guide was very knowledgeable. Half day tour was just perfect so we got to see enough but still be back at our hotel early.
Excellent short trip to 3 must-see Malta locations. Well organised, comfortable transport to and from Valletta, and Celine was a wonderfully professional, friendly and knowledgeable guide.
Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated.
Mdina is gorgeous and the time allowed was sufficient but I recommend taking the local bus instead. The gardens were terrible - my backyard is nicer, cliffs are cliffs.. nice view but you only need 10mins there. Tour guide was terrible and added no local knowledge- I learnt more from the signs than from her. Save your money and take the local bus!
Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated.
Very disorganised, we went today 17/6/2022, literally only had 40mins in mdina, then the confusion that ensued trying to get people on the right transport, we were left waiting in boiling heat for another coach to arrive, then finally we boarded and left, our guide Anna was very knowledgeable and did her best to sought things out.
Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated.
Due to the bilingual guided tour (German & English) less facts were presented. Not much freetime. Our guide was friendly. All in all it was still a good tour through Mdina and the garden.
Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated.
The guide did not provide much historical context, did not tie Mdina to the rest of Malta. And ended the tour with perfunctory here is the cathedral - since we don’t have much time and it costs money in addition to the tour, I don’t recommend it. No passion for the place and it’s history and no capacity to bring it to life.
Thank you for your feedback which is appreciated. Entrance to the Mdina Cathedral and Museum is not included in the tour due to time constraints. It is a place of great historical importance and interest and we highly recommend a visit (separate to the tour) to Mdina Cathedral and its Museum which houses fine silverware, rare coins, an important collection of prints and engravings by Albrecht Dürer one of the greatest Northern Renaissance artists, Maltese objects d’art, wax reliefs, a trompe l’oeil Baroque dome, many paintings and other artefacts.
