Charles the guide took me on one of the most challenging hikes up to the Materuni Waterfalls. It had unfortunately rained the previous night and so the path up and down the mountains was very wet and slippery. However Charles guided me throughout the whole hike there and back, holding my hand whenever I needed help, carrying my handbag and explaining everything I needed to know and answering all my questions. He’s very intelligent, professional and knowledgeable. I was very lucky to have him as my guide. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide, bless him! Highly recommend this company and this particular guide - Charles! Thank you so much Charles for a most amazing and memorable tour.
Dear Zeina, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted you enjoyed your Materuni adventure. Charles will be thrilled to hear your kind words—they truly reflect the care, professionalism, and passion he brings to every tour. Thank you for trusting Safaribyleo, and we hope to welcome you back to Tanzania for another unforgettable experience!
A truly unique experience for coffee and nature lovers. The guide, Kelvin, was very friendly and explained all the cultural details. The group that welcomed us for the coffee experience was very fun, cheerful, and friendly. Lunch was fantastic. One of the best coffee and nature experiences we've ever had on a trip.
Hello Lauran, Thank you for your kind review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed the coffee and nature experience, the warm hospitality of the local community, and the fantastic lunch. Kelvin will be delighted to hear your compliments. It was our pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back to Tanzania for more unforgettable experiences in the future. 🌿☕😊
We booked the waterfalls and coffee tour, but modified it to be only the coffee tour because of our flight time. It ended up being one of the most fun experiences ever! At the local plantation, the host (Mr. Coffee) showed us the entire process…from roasting to grinding to brewing and tasting. He made it lively and interactive with music and dancing, which kept the whole experience full of energy and joy. Charles was our guide (we had toured Moshi City with him the evening before), and it was wonderful to continue the conversation with someone so intelligent and knowledgeable. His insight added so much depth to the day. He also wrote a children’s book, which was amazing, he even gave us three copies to share with my nieces and nephews. I highly recommend you ask him about this book; it’s about safari life, the animals you see, and how they live. It was very insightful, and super fun to read. To top it off, Mount Kilimanjaro 🏔️ stood right in front of us as we made our way to the plantation, giving us some unforgettable photo opportunities. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, highly recommended if you want to immerse yourself in local culture while enjoying fresh, delicious coffee ☕️
Good day, Salisha thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and for your nice remarks. That our guides are excellent and that you loved the Coffee experience, local music and sightings of Mt. Kilimanjaro makes us very happy. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
We had an amazing experience with this tour! Our guide Charles was absolutely fantastic – very friendly, relaxed, and incredibly empathetic. He really listened to our wishes and needs and made sure we felt comfortable the entire time. We also had great and engaging conversations with him about Tanzanian culture and everyday life, and he patiently answered all of our questions. The organization of the trip was top-notch. We visited a beautiful waterfall, enjoyed a fascinating coffee tour with a lively live demo full of singing and great atmosphere – and, of course, delicious coffee at the end. Lunch with the locals was honestly the best meal we had during our entire stay in Tanzania. The visit to the Moshi market gave us yet another authentic glimpse into local culture and was truly impressive. As a bonus, when we realized we didn’t have the right charger for our camera, Charles even helped us find the right one in town – which saved our safari later on! All in all, we can wholeheartedly recommend this tour. Thank you, Charles, for making our days so memorable!

Spent a wonderful day in the Kilimanjaro foothills walking, talking and learning with Charles. Charles is extremely knowledgeable about Chagga traditions and very easy to spend time with. It was like a walk with an old friend! We went on a waterfall hike and a coffee tour that included a delicious home prepared local lunch. Highly recommend for a day experience in Moshi!

Dear Aidan, thank you for taking your time to share your day tour experience with us.Glad that you had a wonderfull time exploring Materuni waterfalls with Coffee tour
Charles was the best guide. He picked me up even after I gave him the wrong hotel. We hiked to the waterfall, did a coffee tour with the Chaga, had lunch in the Materuni village, toured Moshi town. Charles’s English was fabulous and he is a great driver. His wife is one of a few female safari guides in Tanzania. I learned so much about Moshi. I was in town for the half marathon and Charles even took me for barbecue after the race and transported me to my next accommodation. I highly recommend the tour and more!
The views were amazing! Charles did an amazing job at explaining the different types of vegetation as well as the village history. We loved every second. He truly goes above and beyond for his clients! I would recommend that anyone who is spending time in Moshi check out this tour.

Charles was an outstanding tour guide who took me to the waterfalls, lunch and around Moshi. Conversation was relaxed and fun, but also informative, with his extensive insight into the country's history. Would highly recommend, if your looking for a tour that goes the extra mile for you.
Hello Dan,we are thrilled to learn that you had a wonderful day exploring with us and enjoyed our guide informative storytelling style.Looking forward to welcome you back soon
I met Charles on his Moshi city tour, and was so impressed by his knowledge and easygoing personality that I decided to also do the tour to Materuni with him, and I'm so happy I did! We went on an afternoon, since that's when I had time free on my schedule, and it turned out to be a great time to visit. The morning crowds have thinned out and we had most of the hike/waterfall experience to ourselves. It was also warmer so it doesn't feel cold standing by the falls! The falls itself is beautiful--thundering and visible from afar. Charles took care to lead me on slightly different trails there and back to see different aspects of the falls as well as distant views Moshi town and surrounding areas. In the car and on the hike, Charles chatted with me about the ways of life of the people who live in the surrounding areas, and pointed out many interesting plants and critters along the way. Having grown up nearby, Charles knows all about the area and is truly happy to share that knowledge and experience. I learned so much more about the lives of the people in the region--both in rural and urban areas--than I would have had otherwise. It really feels like hiking with a knowledgable, good friend. As a solo female traveler, I've realized that while there are many decent tour companies and guides out there, this kind of truly great personal interaction is not always a given, and really something to be treasured! Charles runs a great operation--he and his wife (one of the few female safari guides/drivers) also support girl's education and empowerment through their company. Highly recommend!
