I visited during peak season and since tickets to the park are limited, I definitely would not have been about to enter without the tour guide. I had such a great time walking through the park taking photos with my Nikon and zoom lens. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife - most of which I wouldn't not have spotted on my own. I was traveling solo but made easy conversation with other people in my group as well as the tour guide. I recommend going in the morning before it gets too hot and then spending the rest of the afternoon on the beach or exploring the park further on your own. Note- no plastic bottles or aerosol cans, allowed in the park so be sure to bring an aluminum water bottle and spray-pump insect repellent. No food allowed in the park either so eat before entering and/or be prepared to buy snacks at the concessions while inside the park (the smoothies are expensive, but delicious).
If you go to Manuel Antonio National Park I recommend you go with a guide. Without guidance you won't see any animals. We got the tour guide Jean Paul, an expert. Very attentive and friendly. Lynx eye to see the animals with your telescope. Recommended 100%
The park was nice, beach was lovely. Monkeys, sloths all seen, it was good value as this company offer the tickets to the park included and they were extremely helpful with the pickup, communication with the office was fab. Shame the guide was more interested in himself.
Very beautiful park, well laid out, full of possible routes thanks to trails. We had reserved our entries for 7 a.m., no problem parking at this early hour, we went to the end of the road, to the last parking lot, and we paid 4000 colons for the day. We were practically the first to enter the park, so we were able to fully enjoy it, without too many people, and without being too hot. We had brought a water bottle, because it is forbidden to bring in water bottles, but it is possible to buy them inside the park. We stayed there for 4 hours, because in addition to the walks, we took advantage of the magnificent beaches for a swim. There are showers at the end of the beach, toilets also. Everything is planned. A refreshment bar and gift shop in the park are also present. We were lucky enough to see a lot of animals without taking a guide. A lot of patience, spotting crowds and luck allowed us to see monkeys, sloths and even a doe and her fawn among others!
Tour guide was okay but there were too many people on the tour and in the park. Also, lots of confusion about whether the tour included park entry.
Money-hungry from A-Z and yes, no mistake admitting. We booked three tours in one day. Manuel Antonio, Monkey Tour and Night Tour. Contact at the beginning was good. Meeting point the guide was not on site and after 30 minutes delay he had to eat breakfast first. We had forgotten that we still had to make the final payment (really our mistake ). After we pointed out to Randy that the balance would not be so high, it became very bad. Also, we could not pay by credit card as described at the booth, maybe he wanted to rip the money under the nail. 1. Guide in the park miserable, spoke broken German ( we had booked German speaking and private tour ). He was always on the phone and he had almost no time to take pictures. We were then able to find out that the Randy demanded too much money after all. He gave us the difference back small-voiced. Alfa animal has been can be small!! We had seen on his homepage that you could cancel a tour up to 120 before the start of the tour, after WhatsApp contact Alfa Tier Randy didn't want to know about it and I kept referring him to the homepage, which he denied. Suddenly the this hint was no longer present within 2 minutes. we had made the tour, Manuel Antonio is beautiful, but not anymore. Please don't book with Alfa Tier Randy, he's just money-hungry and nothing else
Our guide William was GREAT!!! It was very impressive how he was able to point out the animals - sloths, iguanas, jesus lizard, sleeping frogs, dragonflies, and more. We wouldn't have been able to see many of them without his expert eyes.
Randy Rivera is an outstanding guide and very friendly. He was professional and knowledgeable and was a tremendous help to my family. He really made the day for my 2 sons. Thanks Randy! From Matt and Shauna
I just wanted to say that Randy Rivera, one of the Certified Guides was super helpful to us - we had gotten tickets for the wrong day, tried to go to the park to fix it and Randy saw us trying to figure thing out, stepped in and helped us find the right person to talk to. Great service! And he is a great guide, personable and knowledgeable. Definitely the best plan to get a guide, you see SO much more than you would on your own!
Manuel Antonio National Park is at first glance a mass operation. However, the large number of animals to be observed compensates. After the expert tour you can stay in the park until the evening. Continue watching, hiking or swimming many animals.
