We did the sunset kayaking tour up river then down to a sand bar to witness a stunning sunset. We saw some long tailed macaques on the river bank. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us about the mangrove forest, its wildlife and its management, also about the lives of the villagers who live along the river bank. We felt very safe with our guide and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was a private kayak tour. A great trip which I’d recommend but perhaps there would be more wildlife on the sunrise tour.
We are so lucky to have amazing Eddie with us. First tine we do kayaking and coach Eddie helped us so much.
Such a magical moment, kayaking through the mangroves with a view of the sunrise over the misty mountains! An absolute highlight of our trip. The guide was great as well, taught us how to kayak and then stayed with us through the trip pointing out the nature. Highly recommend doing this if you love being on the water.
Eddie was a great guide, everything went smoothly and we had a lovely time watching the sunrise and kayaking around the mangrove. Very peaceful!
My partner and I did the sunrise kayak experience. We got picked up at 4.30 from our accomodation by the couple that run the experience. It was about a 40 min drive to the river. When we arrived we had tea/coffee and biscuits provided. The guide talked about KK and Borneo on the way which was interesting. As first light came we started our kayaking. It was wonderful to see the river come to life in the morning, watching the sun rise over the mountains, beautiful light. Very peaceful. We then stayed by the river banks to watch for wildlife. We saw a turtle, monitor lizards swimming, kingfishers, egrets, other small birds and a family of otters. As we paddled back down we saw another family of otters so that was really special. We then got driven back to KK. The couple work very hard and do a great job. Would recommend this activity - worth the early start. Maybe bring some dry pants to change into as you get a wet bottom...
Simply brilliant.Eddy and Kayoko were so welcoming and insightful. The kayaking experience even though tiring was definitely worth it. The view during sunrise was breathtaking.
Great experience in the green. I learned a lot about Sabah and its culture from our amazing guide. Can highly recommend.
Our guide Eddy is such a wonderful guide. He shared so much information about Kinabalu and tips on kayaking. He made our adventure so enjoyable and fun. The view was spectacular. We are so privileged to be able to kayak among the great mountains of Sabah. We also want to thank his wife for her great hospitality.
Amazing. The kayaking guide Eddy and his wife Kayoko are so friendly and hospital. They accommodated our needs and took care of us throughout the activity. I highly recommend it!
