Itinerary
8 AM- We meet for breakfast at an old eatery, renowned for its traditional South Indian dishes. The dosa here is highly recommended. After a sumptuous traditional breakfast we walk to the local market. The market is a riot of colors as the street vendors peddle flowers, vegetables, fruits, clothes, household items, trinkets, handicrafts, utensils. Next in our Bangalore walk we will visit a famous Silk Saree shop which is the city’s choicest destination for purchase of silk sarees for big occasions like weddings.
We walk to a temple called Kadu Malleswara, after which the neighborhood has been named. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is a splendid specimen for the Dravidian style of architecture and was built by Venkoji Rao Bhosle, the brother of the great Maratha King Shivaji.
Our next destination in this Bangalore walk is a far more ancient temple called Nandeeswara. This ancient temple was lost to the world for many years and was excavated only recently by archeologists. The local people here says this temple is more than 7000 years old! The temple is full of mysteries. A steady stream of water from unknown sources runs from the mouth of the statue of Nandi bull to the statue of a Shiva Linga a little below it. There are many turtles to be met at this temple!
Our walk takes us to Sankey Tank, an important source of drinking water for Bangalore. Built 1882 by Madras Sappers Regiment, Sankey Tank is very popular today among the walkers and joggers.
Our last stop in this Bangalore walk is a modern temple of Lord Krishna located on top of a small hill. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was founded in 1966 in New York City by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Its core beliefs are based on select traditional Hindu scriptures, particularly the Bhagavad-gītāand the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of bhakti yoga, in which those involved (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing the Supreme Lord, Krishna. ISKCON today is a worldwide confederation of more than 550 centres.

Mayuri is a pleasant and easy-going guide. Thanks to her, I had access to places where locals go I would have not otherwise know I could visit. After a peaceful stroll, we decided to focus the tour on visiting three temples and the flower market. I was lucky to experience a few ceremonies at the temples, including seeing a vow renewal ceremony and joining a Hare Krishna dance. Mayuri also guided me through the back streets of the neighborhood where I could observe the local life. Be ready to take off your shoes before entering temples.
Diwakar was a great guide for our Malleswaram heritage tour. We enjoyed seeing the temples and learning the history. The experience was a delight.
I am delighted you enjoyed the Malleswaram walk with Divakar. It was our pleasure to host you.

I am glad you enjoyed the Malleswaram walk with Divakar. Thanks for taking the time for this review. It was our pleasure hosting you.
The tour was very good the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of all the places we visited. The temples included in the tour were beautiful.
I had an amazing time on this tour with my friendly and knowledgeable guide! He was able to answer all my questions about Hinduism in great detail and provided a fascinating explanation of the basics of this rich religion. We visited many beautiful temples in Malleswaram, where I got to witness traditional rituals and even sample some holy water. The tour also included a scenic walk through bustling markets and a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in exploring the temples of Bangalore—it's an unforgettable experience!
Our morning with Vignesh was interesting and fun. Vigy shared just enough information about the temples to help my daughter and I understand, answering questions and sharing stories along the way. Enjoyed the break for delicious dosa and coffee. I appreciated the contact prior to our outing to confirm pick up at our hotel.
Excellent tour. Mayuri was a great host. Very knowledgeable about the history of the temples and neighborhoods we visited
Divakar, our guide was excellent! He knew a lot about both the history of Malleshwaram and the practices and rituals in the various temples we visited. We learned a lot. The breakfast/brunch was scrumptious and overall I’d say the experience was outstanding. Definitely recommend.
Great early morning (from 8am) visit to several temples, a small flower market and sampled some traditional local breakfast foods. Vignesh was very knowledgable and keen to make the experience pleasant for me. I was the only person on the tour so it was like having a private guide! Highly recommended for a few hours before it gets too hot later in the day. Note that no shops are open, but that’s not what the tour is about. You do need to remove your shoes to visit the temples so be prepared for that. We finished with a coffee in a locally famous store which was also good.
Mayuri was the perfect person to help us visit and learn about significant cultural sites. We really enjoyed the time spent with her on this walking tour. We would never have discovered most of these sites and highly recommend the tour.
