Visit the Nelly Bay Nature reserve for a talk on our local wildlife and to view an interpretive display created by celebrated local artists.
Picnic Bay, a coastal haven steeped in history and natural beauty. Step onto the shores of Picnic Bay accompanied by our knowledgeable guide. Your experience encompasses both the breathtaking vistas and the richness of Picnic Bay's past. Wander along the heritage-listed Picnic Bay Jetty, where remnants of the island's bygone days blend seamlessly with the panoramic views of the Coral Sea with the possibility of witnessing turtles or dugongs in the waters. Our tour unfolds the layers of Picnic Bay's heritage, and a highlight is our visit to the local museum. Led by our expert guide, explore the museum's curated exhibits showcasing artifacts, stories, and photographs that vividly depict the area's fascinating history. Delve into tales of early settlers, maritime adventures, and the cultural tapestry that shaped this coastal gem
Visit the Marina and take a short walk along the Presto Breakwater, to visit the wreck of the Presto scuttled on Magnetic Island in 1896. There is always a chance to spot some of our iconic Allied Rock Wallabies as they jump along the breakwater.
Our unique Allied Rock Wallabies are often found in and around the rocks on the edge of Geoffrey Bay. See if you can spot any.
While the tour doesn't cover the entire Forts walk, it offers an insightful experience into our island's World War II history through an informative display at the start of the walk Ascend to the initial lookout point (approximately 100m) to marvel at the stunning panoramic vistas overlooking Arthur Bay.
As you walk alongside the group, our guide paints vivid pictures of the island's past and present, pointing out unique features of the landscape and sharing captivating tales about the area's significance. Alma Bay's beauty unfolds before your eyes as our guide provides insights into the bay's history, wildlife, and the mesmerizing tranquility that makes it a hidden gem on Magnetic Island.
Stop for a break at the island's watersports mecca, Horseshoe Bay. Plenty of cafe's available and a lifeguard patrolled beach. Markets operate every Sunday during the cooler months.

Our driver, Tim, was the best. He was very knowledgeable about the Island and could answer any question we had. We stopped many times to learn about the history and take pictures. We fed the rock wallabies and saw wallabies running in the neighborhoods. Tim surprised us by taking us to his private property where he gathered eucalyptus branches that we took back to the animal hospital and fed two of the koalas who are there. We stopped in a small town where we had an hour of free time to eat, shop, or walk the beach. Overall it was a fantastic experience.
Tim was awesome. Accommodating and made the rainy wet season day super enjoyable nonetheless. We had a 4 month old and two sassy teenagers and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Great facts and knowledge with a combination of lived experience made for a fun filled tour. Recommend to anyone looking to do Maggie and see all the beaches and hot spots. We even got to meet some Koala and felt very privileged for the up close and personal experience
This was a lovely way to see Magnetic Island and learn lots for when we comeback and do it ourselves next time . Tim was a fabulous host . Thankyou for going out of your way way to pick us up when we were running late … oops . Make sure you catch the ferry over from Townsville to arrive in time lol
Unbelievable experience to be able to enjoy nature and learn about this beautiful island from an knowledgeable and enthusiastic local.
Such a fantastic tour! My friend and I went with Tim around the island. He was super friendly and knew so much about the island and the native wildlife and vegetation. We saw a lot of different places around the island and a lot of native wildlife. We saw sharks, fed Wallaby’s, saw a lot of birds, small reef fish, and of course koalas! Such an amazing tour and tour guide!☺️ Thank you Tim!

Magnetic Island is a beautiful island and Tim is a fantastic guide! He knows (almost) everything about the island and is excited to convey that to others. Too bad we could only stay on this island for one day.

Easy to take the ferry from Townsville to meet the tour. Great to visit the highlights with an Island native, Izzy’s Dad! The best was going to their koala hospital and feed the rescue koalas!

The tour with Tim is definitely off the beaten track. From the pick up at the ferry terminal to delivery back in time for the 3pm ferry we loved every minute. Tim is clearly passionate about his home island and the wildlife that lives there and it seems most people know him as well. From finding and feeding Rock Wallabies, to getting the history of old ferry terminals, rock formations to the highlight of seeing his Koala Hospital, this trip was informative to the extreme. You can also tell he is immensely proud of his daughter Izzy and his wife for the work they put in at the Koala Hospital. At Horseshoe bay we had just the right amount of time for lunch and as we drove past the strip of restaurants we got the run down and critique summary for them all to help our choices. All in all a highly recommended trip to see exactly what it says "behind the scenes". No tour coaches here, just a friendly 16 seater!
