Pharaoh Amenhotep III, one of the great builders of ancient Egypt, was responsible for starting the construction of the Luxor temple during the New Kingdom (1390-1352 BC) following by Tutankhamun (1336-27 BC), then Horemheb (1323-1295 BC) and then finished by Rameses II (1279-13 BC). The Luxor temple appears to be one of the many projects that Ramesses II commissioned during his long reign. Ramesses II also repurposed many existing monuments to add to his own reputation. The statuary and carvings that decorate the temple today mainly feature Ramses II.

The temple of Karnak was known as Ipet-isu—or “most select of places”—by the ancient Egyptians. It is a city of temples built over 2,000 years and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. This derelict place is still capable of overshadowing many wonders of the modern world and in its day must have been awe-inspiring. After a whirlwind exploration into the treasures of the ancient world, transfer back to the airport for your return flight to Cairo, and to your hotel.

Good tour..

The tour is a lot to pack in one day, but it definitely the tour to book to get all the sites in! Our guide was Amr. He was very nice and excited to show us Egypt. He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. The tour of the temples, valley of the kings etc... were great. Lunch was amazing!! The Nile river was nice to see but dirty.. the Some cons: We were rushed through most sites Did not have time for souvenirs shopping or pics Our flight got delayed without notice and we’re stuck at airport for three hours *****I would opt out of camel ride portion. The camels are young and really scared of cars and buses. We were almost bucked off. The trail used was full of trash, and through local towns, felt like we were being stared at and made fun of..the temples were fantastic.

You want to see Luxor? Book your trip with Lalia

My husband & I spent a whole day being guided through Luxor by our incredible tour guide Lalia. She picked us up at the Luxor airport (look for the purple hat!) & we quickly began our day. [Note go outside baggage claim to meet her!] First up - Hatshepsut's Temple. Per Lalia's suggestion we started the day there to beat the crowds and she was so right. When we got there it was deserted, allowing for an intimate experience to take in the impressive site (and grab some stellar photos). Afterwards we stopped at an alabaster/ceramics shop where we got to see the process used in carving and making vases, statues, etc as well as buy some souvenirs that we knew were legit. The proprietors were so sweet. Next we went to the The Valley of the Kings. Lalia took time before we took the lil' train to the site to go over what we were about to see and what specifics to look for as we would explore on our own. She had photos to reference. This was extremely valuable as it made the time inside the tombs effortless as we knew what we were looking at. While we waited for the lil' train/tam carts so many people seemed to know Lalia, and no surprise! She works a lot and has an amazing reputation. Afterwards The Vally of the Kings we stopped at Colossi of Memnon for a quick photo & look see. Next, Lalia suggested with the time of day & current traffic we could take a boat ride across the Nile to get to our lunch spot VS driving & sitting in the van. This was so pleasant & relaxing after the morning of (fun but tiring) trekking around. Lunch was at local cafe called SNACK TIME - grilled chicken, rice, hummus (good / local food). Free/ok wifi. After Lunch we headed to Karnak Temple (which was my favorite of the day) and then finally Luxor Temple. Lalia was filled with information and stories for every landmark. We can't recommend both the trip & her enough! She was so much fun & very easy to be around. We felt safe & cared for in her company. She made the most use of our time and wanted to make sure we got to take everything in. You can tell she loves Luxor and her job. She set the bar high for our other tour guides. If we ever get the chance to go back to Egypt we plan to spend more time in Luxor because of our time with Lalia.

Amazing Tour and an Amazing Guide Laila!

My wife and I went to Egypt on our Honeymoon and had a wonderful experience taking a day trip to Luxor. Laila was our guide and she is the reason this trip was so special. She was so charming and likable. When we met her it felt like we were meeting an old friend. She spoken English very well and was very knowledgeable about the ancient history of Egypt and especially Luxor. This was a full day. There was a lot to see and a lot to cover and Laila's energy never wavered. She was attentive and enthusiastic the whole day. I never felt like she was phoning it in. It was truly a day to remember.

Wonderful Day Tour to Luxor

The highlight of this tour was meeting and connecting with Hoda. She is FABULOUS! Her infectious personality and witty conversation delighted my husband and me. Hoda made sure that we had the best experience. The driver was lovely as well. He was kind, patient, and pleasant. We felt safe the entire time. Hoda made recommendations and allowed us time to explore at our own pace. We spent extra money so that we could explore a few additional tombs in the Valley of the Kings. She even suggested a nice boat ride on the Nile. That was a pleasant surprise we thoroughly enjoyed. Lunch was spectacular, and the lentil soup was delicious. Hoda gave us the opportunity to taste sugar cane juice. I loved it. The entire day breezed by in a flurry of laughter, exploring, punctuated with history lessons. It is a long day so be prepared to be exhausted at the end of it. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 was the experience at the airport. We arrived at the airport around 6:00 p.m. and our flight did not board until 10:00 p.m. We were there 4 hours early, and we were not allowed to check into the airport until 8:45 p.m. We were tired, hungry and had nowhere to go. I would recommend that this tour add a place where you can get dinner, primarily since there was no place for us to eat and the airport security would not allow us inside the terminal. That would take this tour from a 4 to a 5 star without hesitation. Happy Travels.

Luxor Day Tour

It has been a real pleasure meeting Hoda in Luxor. You were the best tour guide we had so far in Egypt. We have really enjoyed your friendly, calm and affable nature. You have been very easy to deal with and we have felt safe and respected in your hands. You have always been approachable and have worked with flexibility to make the most of the available time. You have given us great insight into Luxor and Egypt and were willing to answer the many questions we had. The tour in Luxor has run smoothly and efficiently and has been very professionally managed by Hoda. We would like to thank you very much for looking after us so well. You are a great ambassador for Egypt!

This is well organized great tour. I...

This is well organized great tour. I highly recommend to people who stay in Egypt short time but want to see Luxor temple and Queen Hatshepsut's shrine. We left hotel early morning and ride Egypt air and arrived Luxor in the morning. Our tour guide Hoda and driver welcomed us in the Luxor airport. It was a private tour. She told us many information and all entrance fee is included so you don't have to worry about entrance fee. Actually entrance fee is expensive in Egypt. In the King's valley you can visit three graves. Inside the grave were colorful and beautiful. Hoda selected graves depends on your aim. We chose not so difficult to climb down and large beautiful graves. One of them was Lamses Ⅱ. Queen Hatshepsut's shrine was large and gorgeous it's hot and hard to walk but worth to see. She opened Zoo 4000 years ago!.
After enjoyed whole tour they sent us to airport and we flied back to Cairo. We arrived our hotel around eight. I know this tour is not cheap but worth to attend!

Perfect day tour to Luxor from Cairo

If you want to visit Luxor from Cairo I strongly suggest using imperial Egypt. From start to finish just great service. My wife and I had Hady as our tour guy. He was so knowledgeable about every site we visited. Our day started at the Valley of the kings an incredible site and probably one of the reasons why you would fly to Luxor for the day. From there we went to deir el-bahari Temple. Then a quick stop to a stone masonry shop. A nice lunch with a view of the Nile. We then took a quick boat ride over the Nile to the other side of Luxor. We visited Karnak temple and Temple of Luxor. Hady our tour guides filled us in with tons of information of each site. Pointing out key monuments. A must do trip if your in Cairo. Pick up and drop off to and from the airport was all part of the package as well going both ways
