Lunenburg Tour

Bruce was on shore to greet us when we departed. His car was immaculate and comfortable for our party of four. Bruce started the morning touring us around Halifax. He pointed out sites and encouraged us to take pictures. From Halifax we traveled to Lunenburg. Once we were at our destination, Bruce spent the time driving us around this beautiful city. We saw so many sites and so that we would not forget what we experienced, he provided time to take pictures. He also gave us hints on how we might photographically capture a site. During our time there, we enjoyed an amazing lunch and before we departed, we were able to visit an artist’s shop. On our way back, we went through so many towns (Sunnybrook, Maser’s Cove, Mahone Bay, Oakland+) and Bruce always pointed out special characteristics at each location. At the end of the day, we are tired but feel pleased as to how many sights we took in and the knowledge we captured. We definitely would recommend Bruce’s tour.

Bruce met the cruise ship at the dock exactly as planned. His van was sparkling clean and had plenty of space for my walker. Bruce gave a good narrative as we drove through Halifax toward Lunenburg. We mentioned looking for a Starbucks to get a mug for my son. Bruce made it happen. My daughter was the designated photographer. Bruce knew all the best places to stop for great pictures. He took us to the visitor center and the library to find out information on my Lunenburg ancestors. We had time for a seafood lunch and then made our way back to Halifax via the coastline and highway. I would not hesitate to recommend Bruce for his expertise and kindness.

Bruce's tour was an absolute gem. He was thorough, courteous and professional throughout and the combination of Lunenburg and the coastal settlements made for a fascinating day. The joy of just going as a couple is that we can stop at a few more places, speed through those of less interest. We did manage to engage Bruce in conversation, but through specific, targeted questions about life in Canada. His cards of the places we went to were a great idea.

The tour was very superficial. Our guide repeated descriptions such as "there's a lake," but would not name the lake. He would repeatedly state "this is ocean water," or "this is a property owner's rock barrier." I am not stating he would say it one or two times. He would repeat the same phrase 5-10 times. He would tell my companions to take pictures of a door and when he inquired why, the answer was "it looked nice." Finally, I assumed that since this was a private tour we would be able to have some input into the sites we wished to see. Peggy's Cove and the Titanic Museum were rejected by him. When asked specific questions about the objects or the city of Lundenberg. The answer was "I don't know." He could not recommend a restaurant that served local cuisine that I assume someone who is giving a city tour of his chosing, not the guests' choice, would know. Our party of four was very disappointed in the tour.LUN

Bruce was an excellent guide and we had a wonderful private tour to Lunenburg. Watching the large tour buses drop off their passengers to wander up & down those big hills in town on their own was sad to see. We saw & learned so much about the town plus has some free time for lunch or shopping. Bruce took us around beautiful lakes & country roads. He was great!

Skip the cruise ship bus and take a private tour with Bruce. Very enjoyable and informative tour. Bruce really knows the area. Well worth the price!

Bruce was great. He will help you get some great pictures. Very professional. Had entire itinery planned out. Spent over 7 hours with us and arranged great weather for us.

Bruce gave my wife & I a fantastic personalized tour of historic Lunenburg, as well as central Halifax & the areas surrounding our travels. He was waiting for us at the pick-up point ahead of time, which meant we had bonus extra touring time. He gave us a full pre-departure briefing using a detailed map which set the scene for our tour & gave us a good idea of what to expect. He had a store-house of information & kept the narration coming.He gave us regular stops for refreshment & restroom stops & impromptu stops including some shopping. He tailored our trip to our interests, mainly photography, history & general interests. He had an in-depth knowledge of many aspects, particularly in historic Lunenburg & points of view that may be unlikely covered by others. We had a very nice lunch in Lunenburg right where he dropped us off for this. Our selected 6 1/2hour tour effectively & efficiently used our time allowed by the cruise ship movements & he made sure we were comfortably returned in time. We have no hesitation in recommending Bruce for a tour of Lunenburg & the Halifax Nova Scotia area generally - do yourself a favour! He gives really outstanding value for money & is such a personable driver & guide. I took over 200 photos of this tour which is many more than average & look forward to processing them from RAW format.

We loved this whole day which was thoughtfully planned. A good balance between drive & walkabouts to give you the best of these two towns. We also appreciated the information that Bruce shared throughout the tour, and his keen eye for helping us take the perfect pictures.
