A really unique experience led by our guide and part-time chef, Luis. This was based in the Tacuba area of the city. We met him at the main entrance of Parroquia San Gabriel Arcangel. After a brief introduction, he and his assistant led us into the market. Not only were we going to make four salsa, we were going to learn how to select the ingredients as well. Note on the market, it was a bit tight in some areas. If you suffer from claustrophobia, this may not be for you. After picking fresh veggies, Oaxacan cheese and fresh tortillas, we headed back to Luis' apartment. It was about a 5-minute walk. Entering, our tour of 9 was seated at a long table. We were making pico de gallo with mango, salsa verde, a creamy arbor and my new favorite thing on the planet, salsa Macha. Luis made it very engaging having us roast the peppers, chop the fruits and veggies, and accompanied it all with fresh hibiscus water. As a really fun experience, I highly recommend this tour.
My friend booked this tour with Yazmín and her assistant, Valeria. It was a great experience - I live in Mexico City and thought this was going to be a cheesy tour; but I was so wrong. Yazmín was so friendly, informative and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The salsas were delicious and it was fun making them. Thanks to Yazmín (and Valeria).
Thank you so much! I hope to welcome you back again soon. Much love.
Five stars for this authentic salsa making class! Jasmine our guide and chef was absolutely delightful and knowledgeable. We learned about many of the fresh items in the local market. Once back at the kitchen we prepared 4 very different salsas It opened my eyes to the wonderful varieties of salsas here in Mexico! Can’t recommend enough!
Thank you so much! I hope to welcome you back again soon. Much love.
Very authentic and hands on; and bonus that you get to enjoy everything you make. Luis was an exceptional teacher.
What an enjoyable morning learning the art of Mexican cooking! Our hosts were very engaging and hospitable in every way. We loved strolling through the market to buy ingredients, then we made 4 delicious salsas to eat along with our quesadillas. 5 star! A very unique CDMX experience!
Thank you so much! I hope to welcome you back again soon. Much love.
Market tour was interesting and learned about local produce and spices. Salsa making was fun and took home great recipes
Jazz, our instructor, was amazing! Full of energy, so kind, knowledgeable and spoke great English. It was a very authentic experience and unlike anything else I've done in the city. Would highly recommend!
Veronica was great - an amazing experience when it comes to Mexican cooking. I would highly recommend this as a first step in this cooking realm.
Wonderful experience! Felt like we were at friend’s house who was teaching us how to cook. The salsas are delicious. Great for people with and without dietary restrictions!
Thank you so much! I hope to welcome you back again soon. Much love.
Jazz was so much fun. The salsas and the recipes were fantastic, but the real joy was spending the day with her. Between the market, the music, the costumes and the fun, she made it a great experience for my 13-year old and I.
