Description

In this cooking class, we don't just cook, we create an experience that resonates with the spirit of Coastal Kenya. Picture yourself surrounded by the warm embrace of a homely kitchen, where the tantalizing aromas of spices and freshly caught seafood blend seamlessly. This is not just a class; it's an invitation to discover the unique flavors that define the coastal culinary landscape. The heart of our class lies in the hands-on practice, where we transform raw ingredients into a symphony of flavors. Feel the softness of coconut-infused rice between your fingers and experience the thrill of perfectly seasoning your catch of the day. Our homely approach fosters a sense of community, as we chop, stir, and simmer together, creating not just a meal but memories to savor. And when the dishes are ready, the real magic unfolds as we gather around the table to indulge in our creations. Embark on this culinary escapade with me, Karibu sana! (Welcome!)

Wonderful cooking experience

We absolutely loved this Kenyan cooking experience. We travelled with teenage children and grandparents and everyone in our group said it was one of our top experiences of the holiday (elephants on safari are hard to beat but it was close!). The Giriama family are welcoming and created a relaxing environment in which to learn and enjoy an authentic Kenyan lunch. They had just welcomed a new baby so I got a bonus of a few baby cuddles too! I almost didn't book as wasn't sure whether the experience was for lunch or dinner, but very easy communications after booking on what's app with Harrison to establish where to be and what time. We thought we'd want to be there for around 2 hours and actually stayed much longer as we were having such a relaxed and fun time. We learnt how to make three different dishes and sides plus how to husk a coconut for coconut rice. My son particularly enjoyed making Kenyan chapati and we went out the next day to buy a chapati board and rolling pin! All the food was local and delicious. They catered for meat eaters and vegetarians in our group. I would absolutely recommend this cooking session.
