Itinerary

30 min

Start this kayaking adventure with a convenient pickup service from your hotel on the entire Lanta Island. Meet your guide at Thung Yee Pheng Pier on Lanta’s northeast coast which is blanketed by the bright-green leaves and haunting roots of mangroves that line a maze of tranquil streams, rivers and inlets.

Admission included90 min

Journey into the officially protected Thung Yee Pheng Mangrove Forest by longtail boat, which offers a worthwhile break from the beaches. You don’t have to look far to spot fiddler crabs twisting in the muddy sediment held together by the dark tube-like roots. Cranes, sea eagles and many other types of birds soar over the trees or fish in the shallows.

Admission included60 min

Continue to Koh Talabeng, truly the highlight of this trip. It is an old and large rock island off the east coast of Koh Lanta Noi. Two huge rocks stand more than 100 meters high and tower over the surface like large giants protecting a treasure make up Talabeng Island. Ancient pirates used the series of caverns on this island as their shelter. Discover the lush green island by kayak and spot small creatures such as monkeys and lizards. Enter small and big sea caves which feature fresh clear water, stalagmites and stalactites that twinkle and shine.

30 min

Than it is time for a short break on Bu Bu Island to recharge your batteries. Enjoy a healthy Thai lunch and have a swim at the quiet beach before heading to Koh Aung and Koh Kum, for a short sightseeing trip around the tiny islands.

Not as advertised and unethical

Beware this trip is not as advertised and not ethical!! Just before getting on a boat we were told there is no half day mangrove and sea cave kayaking; it’s either one or the other. After speaking to several people they sent us off to kayak the mangroves (35 mins with 2 stops rather than the 1 hour) then got on a boat to the sea caves where it became apparent we were now there for the full day which we specifically hadn’t wanted. There’s a cove where they feed the monkeys which had we known we definitely wouldn’t have paid to have anything to do with, the guide also did his best to scare birds so we could see them fly out of a cave.. There’s enough natural beauty on this trip and actual wildlife to not need to be doing these unethical practises anymore. If you book this be prepared to find out there is no such tour and what you do on the day depends how the organisers figure out what to do with you. Tried reporting this to Tripadvisor but their response was “what do you want us to do about it”

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply concerned by your report, particularly regarding the unethical treatment of wildlife and the inaccuracies in our tour descriptions. We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding the feeding of wildlife or the intentional disturbance of birds in their natural habitats. The behaviors you described—feeding monkeys and scaring birds to trigger flight—are direct violations of our environmental standards. We are launching an immediate investigation with our guides and partners to ensure these practices are stopped immediately. Furthermore, we sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the half-day versus full-day itinerary. It is clear that our communication and organization failed to meet the program you specifically booked. We are reviewing our booking synchronization to prevent such mismatches in the future.

I’d love to give it 100 stars!!!

This is my third holiday in Thailand and I have never experienced such a wonderful trip! The guide and captain were incredibly friendly and helpful, taking us to remote places without any other tourists! Our group was only 9 people which made the experience even more personalised! Lunch was perfect, dietary requirements were requested beforehand, we were kept hydrated all day! Perfect mix of kayaking, cave exploring, beach and swimming excursion and longtail boating! It was breathtaking! Thank you so much!

Do not miss this trip

This was a truly awesome experience. It seemed that the organizers planned the trip to avoid other groups. Therefore it felt like we are the only in the nature. Our guide was a real character: funny, caring and very informative and insightful.

All good

Very nice tour. We had some kayaking (I thought it would be in the forest, which it wasnt), we visited some islands and we had a delicious lunch. Also our guide was very kind and he spoke English very good. I loved feeding monkeys on the boat :D Everything was without a problem. Thank you!

Tropical Paradise

Our guide, Sing, was knowledgeable, welcoming and playful. We loved kayaking, swimming, beach combing and spelunking. The monkeys were a highlight. They are particularly special and gentle because the tour company has established routines around feeding and interactions with humans that felt safe. We enjoyed our half day tour but would have happily spent a whole day on the water. Would highly recommend the experience.

Operator response

Dear Jenn_F Thank you for your kind words about our half-day kayaking tour! We're so glad you enjoyed your time with Sing and that you got to see so much amazing wildlife, including the monkeys. We're committed to providing our guests with a safe and enjoyable experience, so it's great to hear that you felt comfortable interacting with the monkeys. We work closely with local conservation groups to ensure that our feeding and interaction routines are sustainable and respectful of the animals. We appreciate your recommendation, and we hope to see you again soon for a full-day tour!
