Begin your journey at the azure waters of Lake Sevan, one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes. Visit the Sevanavank Monastery on its peninsula and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Continue to Dilijan, often called “Armenian Switzerland,” known for its forested hills and fresh mountain air. Explore the peaceful Haghartsin Monastery, hidden in a lush woodland setting, or the well-preserved Goshavank Monastery complex in snowy weather. End your day at the Ijevan Wine-Brandy Factory, where you’ll learn about traditional winemaking and enjoy a tasting of local wines and brandies.

Itinerary

30 min

Lined with traditional houses and artisan workshops, Sharambeyan Street takes you hundreds of years back in time. Situated within a national park, the area, popularly known as "Little Switzerland" for its forested hills and picturesque houses made of stone and wood, remains home of many Armenian visual artists, musicians, and filmmakers.

50 min

Haghartsin Monastery is a stunning medieval architectural masterpiece nestled in the lush forests. Built in the 13th century, this historic complex is renowned for its intricate stone carvings, including exquisite khachkars (cross-stones), and its serene atmosphere.

Admission included120 min

Ijevan Wine-Brandy Factory is one of the first wineries in Armenia. It was founded in 1951 in the city of Ijevan, Tavush region, in the valley of Aghstev and Spitak Jur Rivers. Ijevan is surrounded by mountains covered with deciduous forests, which are sometimes replaced by alpine meadows. Such a favorable geographical location and excellent climatic conditions make the products of the factory even more unique. The factory produces high-quality brandies, grape and fruit wines, sparkling wines, vodkas, juices and a wide range of canned products.

60 min

Whilst staying in Armenia, you simply cannot miss the opportunity of visiting one of the country’s most renowned landmarks – the beautiful lake Sevan. Merely an hour’s drive from the capital city of Yerevan, Sevan is situated at the height of 1900m above sea level and surrounded by a vast chain of mountains. The tour begins by climbing a flight of stairs to the Sevan peninsula – a pleasant morning work-out that will compensate itself with an unforgettable panoramic view of the lake from the top. We will also visit the monastery of Sevanavank, built by the princess Mariam to honor the life of her deceased husband in the 9th century. Sevanavank is also home to one of the most beautiful Amenaprkich (all savior) Khachkars of Armenia. This is one of the 13 rarest cross-stones depicting Jesus.

DO NOT RECOMMEND

Would NOT recommend for a non-Russian speaking solo traveller. I’m not saying the tour is bad for groups/Russian speakers but unless you want to be isolated and clueless 80% of the time this tour is not for you. Firstly the tour is advertised as English/Russian. How it works is the guide explains in English then Russian. It is not separated. However, the English version is very basic and much shorter. I do speak/understand a little Russian which I did not inform the guide as I felt it was irrelevant since I signed up in English, thus I know the English version was lacking. This also means that you’re sat there not understanding anything a lot of the time. Also as 90% of the guests were Russian speaking, overall the tour was 80% in Russian. Even when the winery guide was doing the English parts the Yerani guide Sam would joke and laugh in Russian at the side. It was extremely rude and distracting. No fault to the guests, it is not their responsibility to create an inclusive environment. At the monastery, the guide did the explanation in Russian first and told me to wait and come back in 15min. I walked around a bit, came back early and waited at the side for them to finish. The whole group went outside and I thought the guide would return for the English part but he was nowhere to be found. Thus the entire hour I was alone with zero explanation about where I was. Since there was only me and another couple for the English portion there’s no way he just didn’t notice I wasn’t there. Especially as he told me to walk around and come back. The operations side was also poorly handled. First no clear instructions were giving regarding the location and time of the pick up. I had to email in to ask. The minivans are also unmarked. Our minivan then had a problem and we had to change vehicles 15min into the journey. There weren’t enough seats at the back and someone had to go to the front. The guide also was unaware that I had already selected and paid for my meal online when I made the booking.

Great Guide, Great driver, tasty alcohol and good walks.

The tour guide and driver were great, This wine tasting tour is good if you like spirits. We had the meal and the wine tasting at the same Wine making factory if thats the right word. I especially liked the apricot vodka and the mulberry vodka, the 7 year old conac was the best but I think it's expensive to buy a bottle. I had a great time and felt a bit tipsy afterwards but I had energy to hike up the hill to to the church near lake Sevan afterwards. I got some good photos for social media.

Operator response

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour, the guide and driver, and had a fun wine tasting experience — especially the apricot and mulberry vodka and the 7-year-old cognac. It’s great that you had time and energy to continue exploring and even hike up to the church near Sevanavank Monastery, and capture some great photos for your memories. We really appreciate your review and hope to welcome you again for more enjoyable experiences in Armenia!

Almost perfect, Rubyna no good

I have done 3 tours with them: - Khor Virap, Echmiadzin, Zvartnots with Anahit; - Sevan, Dilijan, Wine tour in Ijevan with Rubyna; - Garni, Geghard, Symphony of Stones, Lavash Baking with Rubyna; Good organization from the agency, everything was good. About the guide, Anahit was excellent but Rubyna was bad. They have to talk in 2 languages (English and Russian). Each time, Anahit take the English group to explain (with free time for the Russian group) and then the Russian group (with free time for the others). It was wonderful. Rubyna, instead, always took the whole group together and explained first in English and then in Russian. We waste a lot of time and then we have less free time for pictures and walking around by ourselves. 4 stars for this
