La Rioja wines and Laguardia tour from San Sebastian

Description
Experience a day of exquisite wine tourism with our tour from San Sebastian to La Rioja, where you’ll discover why these lands, shaped since Roman times, are synonymous with excellence. With private transport and hotel pick-up in San Sebastian, head to La Rioja to visit two (one for the bilingual group option) contrasting wineries: one small and family-run, the other mid-sized, exploring traditional and innovative vineyard and cellar methods. Stroll among vines and barrels and enjoy a guided wine tasting highlighting the red fruit, vanilla, and spice notes typical of Crianza and Reserva wines. Continue to Laguardia, a medieval gem with cobbled streets and underground cellars, for a small pintxos lunch paired with local wines and tips to explore the wine route further. No expertise is required, just a desire to discover unique landscapes and meet the people behind each bottle, in a comfortable, intimate, and flexible day.

Excellent day out from start to finish. The small town visited was an added bonus with lunch. Our tour guide was informative and couldn’t have been more helpful. Both vineyards had excellent choices of wines would high recommend
One of the best tours we have ever been on. Great English speaking Aussie guide. Very knowledgeable guides at the wineries too. Good quality wines on tasting paired with food. Lunch at Laguardia exceptional.
Comfortable transportation. Interesting wineries. Knowledgeable host. Both wineries were family run and hosted by family members so we had a great perspective of their love and labor of the wines they produce.
Our guide Alby was friendly and provided a charming evening with great wine and tasty food! I appreciated his knowledge of the area and the two contrasting wine tours, one large and one very local and experimental winery.
This was a real highlight. Alby was an excellent guide, the wineries were fabulous as was the lunch and the village we visited. Highly recommend.
Had a lovely time visiting 2 wineries taste lovely wine and food. Great company and no driving for us which was terrific
Excellent journey to and from San Sebastián, and into the Rioja region. Informative guides at the two wineries, especially at Bodegas Luis Cañas; the memory of having their cool white wine overlooking their vineyard will stay with me a long time! For those who enjoy drinking wine, but don’t know how it’s made and the effort put into it by many generations, I highly recommend coming on this tour. Considering all driving is part of the tour, you won’t get more than 8 people in a group. Huge thanks to Albi Davis for his valuable driving, excellent guiding, and all round good conversation. A wonderful day out for those new to the Basque Country.
The wineries we visited were unique with wonderful wines. Our guide, Alby, was knowledgeable and friendly. It was a great add-on to our visit to San Sebastián.
Fantastic all day wine tasting experience, the guide for the day was super friendly and very informative. The individual wine tours were fantastic - we really liked going to smaller / family owned bodegas and the wines chosen for tasting were excellent. The food / lunch was in an amazing location too
My husband and I were gifted a wine tour for one of our wedding gifts, and chose this one free some last-minute plans were changed. We weren’t sure what to expect, but we had an outstanding time! Our tour guide Alby did a phenomenal job making us feel comfortable, providing history, and keeping things lively in the van. The two wineries you visit make such an excellent pairing! You get to see such a beautiful part of the country, taste local cuisine, and meeting the people who work so hard to preserve the wine making history in Rioja was incredibly special. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! This was the highlight of our honeymoon, and this trip is the one to book!
