Description
Whether you have visited many wineries or none at all this is the tour to learn everything about the Rioja wine world and discover its beautiful landscape. We will take you to 2 different boutique wineries in order to learn everything about the traditional and modern styles Riojas. At one of the wineries we will enjoy a wonderful picnic-style lunch prepared for us surrounded by vines and olive trees! You will visit the medieval village of Laguardia, considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of Spain, famous for its charm and underground cellars! We will stop in some of our favourite spots to take the most magical pictures! Expect 75 minutes drive each way

We’ll journey from Bilbao to Rioja, passing through the breathtaking Gorbea National Park and the dramatic mountain range of the Sierra Cantabria.
We’ll visit two boutique wineries in Rioja Alavesa — the Basque heart of Rioja — where you’ll taste a full spectrum of styles, from elegant classics to bold modern expressions. Lunch will be in one of this wineries with a lovely picnic style lunch.
Discover a medieval village with winding cobbled streets, 13th-century churches, and breathtaking views over the surrounding vineyards.

What a great day! We had a fantastic time with Marina touring two wineries and the lovely town of LaGuardia. Her English is excellent, and she is super friendly and knowledgeable. The Bodegas Amaren was elegant, with a great guide and delicious tastings. The second winery, Javier San Pedro Ortega, was quirky and fun, also with good wine. Lovely countryside along the way. Lunch was in a very a pretty town LaGuardia. Highly recommend. So nice to have someone else drive, so we could sample all the wine.
We spent a fun day with our guide learning and enjoying wine. Marina was the perfect hostess in every way. She shared her knowledge of both the wine and area in a wonderful way. Highly recommend the tour.
Marina was an amazing guide!!! She chose excellent boutique wineries that we really enjoyed visiting. We have been to many wineries all over the world, but we actually were able to see some new methods of producing and aging wine that we had never seen. The lunch was also excellent. A wonderful day spent in Rioja. Our guide, Marina, was knowledgable and engaging and made our trip very enjoyable. The minivan was really comfortable for the trip. We visited two wonderful Bodegas with informative and generous tastings. We even had the chance to taste wine direct from the barrels. The food provided was good. We have done a number of wine tours both in Spain and in different countries worldwide and this was by far the very best. Our guide, Marina, was very knowledgeable, warm and pleasant to be with. The Rioja region is absolutely beautiful and the wineries were very classy, offering some of the very best wines for tasting. Our lunch was delicious and the location was unusual and very sleek. It was great to be able to stop at Laguardia and enjoy its charms. We would like to thank our tour organizer, Irene, for this wonderful experience and for being so attentive and taking such good care of every little detail, since our first exchanges by email.

Four of us went on an amazing day trip from Vitoria-Gastiez to Rioja, visiting 2 wineries and lunch in the medieval town of La Guardia. The wine tasting were excellent, the lunch was tasty, and the scenery was spectacular. But the highlight of our trip was our host Marina. I gave been on many tours; she was one of the best if not the best host/tour guide we have ever had. Because of Marina the trip went from very nice to spectacular. Highly recommend!!
We had the most amazing day with Irene Lopez Martinez! Irene arranged the most comfortable bus for the eight of us to tour the Rioja Wine area. She captivated us immediately with her knowledge and experience of the Vineyards and Terroir of Rioja. We were able to enjoy the wines of two very different Wineries and a fantastic country meal that warmed our hearts. The tour was a highlight of our Northern Spain trip and I highly recommend Northern Spain Gastronomy and Irene for a truly memorable experience.
