We had an amazing time with John. He had a great sense of humor and made a feel at home quickly with the tour
Guide soul was fantastic! It was a safe and exciting adventure. He was an excellent guide who kept us entertained, took lots of photos of the group, and customized tour for us.
We had a great time on this excursion. Marcus, our guide was amazing and so good helping my 8 year old daughter navigate the trail and cross the rivers. It was such a good experience and I would highly recommend the tour with Marcos. We had great convo along the way and got soooo many good photos to remember the waterfall and the trip. Worth every penny!
It was a really fun short hike. There are a couple river crossings, a few short ladders, and a few rocks to climb over. At the end you swim up the river with the help of a rope and handles bolted into the rock to get to the waterfall. Our guide, Kevin, was kind and helpful. It was a great short side adventure.
We did the guided hike to La Leona Waterfall and had an amazing experience with our guide Ronni. We originally booked for 2 people, but ended up joining a group of 7 others and it was a great atmosphere from start to finish. The hike itself was beautiful and adventurous, with river crossings, a bit of swimming, and an incredible final approach to the waterfall. The waterfall was absolutely stunning and we were lucky enough to have it almost entirely to ourselves for 30–40 minutes. Ronni made the experience even better. He was funny, energetic, and constantly joking with the group — including pranking us several times by pointing at ropes going up cliffs and pretending that was the route we had to take! At the same time, he was extremely knowledgeable about the trees, wildlife, and area, and always made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable during the crossings and swimming sections. He even brought fresh mango for everyone at the waterfall, which was such a nice touch. He also showed us where people try climbing beside the waterfall (none of us succeeded, but it was fun trying!). We went on the 11 AM tour, which was a little busy when passing other groups in some sections, but overall it was still absolutely worth it. Highly recommend this tour and especially Ronni as a guide if you’re visiting Costa Rica! We also saw Howler Monkeys at the start by the mango trees
We did the Leona Waterfall Hike with Ziplining. I can’t say enough about how great this company is. The tour guides are incredible knowledgeable and friendly and they are so well organized focused on everyone having a wonderful time. We arrived and while fairly sure I was at the right place, as they looked for my reservation they assured me that even if I had booked with another company they were all close by and they would help get me to where I needed to be. The guides shared knowledge on the area with Andres and Kevin being probably the best guides they have. We were a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 13 and 15. We had an amazing hike to a beautiful waterfall. Had a delicious Costa Rican lunch and then were transported to ziplining for another great adventure. This company takes care of you. I even lost my water bottle and they found it and had it driven out to my hotel the next day! Definitely book with this group and book directly with them for the best pricing!
We did this La Leona waterfall hike as we read thru scores of reviews and found the right experienced and safety minded outfitter. This one has the big triple billboard sign at their parking lot entrance and they own acres to the hiking trail entrance as the waterfall is shared w many different outfitters. It was confusing as it appeared there was a single outfitter that owns the waterfall but it’s actually the land surrounding the access to the trails. In fact this one was a straight shot down the road from the hotel Hacienda Guachipelin that has their own set of waterfalls and hikes, but nothing like La Leona. It’s like if Bryce Canyon meets an amazing blue lagoon powerful waterfall. They were perfectly on time and we all had the best time. This was our 5th trip to CR and can’t believe we never did this. It was just like the photos, and not as treacherous as it seems. I play tennis but a big chicken when it comes to big hikes and it was fine. It’s a rocky hike—we were two couples in our 50s of average shape and had Keens or old sneakers on. In fact our guide told my friend not to buy the water shoes they had as sneakers were prob better and he was right as we ran into another group (differ outfitter) that had the cheap water shoes and was miserable as they could feel every rock. They were gracious to multiple group photos at so many stops along the moderate 1 hr hike each way. The blue water in the cave like setting only to reveal the wondrous waterfall was one of the top things we had ever done. We brought a cheap $50 go-pro like waterproof camera and got so many great videos too. And the staff from getting us set up to the actual hike were all fantastic and experienced. There’s a 3 km bumpy ride from the parking area to the start of the hike in the back of a pick up tuck which can be rough so be forewarned but you can ride inside the truck too. They were very responsive via WhatsApp too as we booked last minute but for an early 9am hike before it got too busy as it was busy season. They can pick up from hotel but we had our rental car so just booked the hike only.
Much biodiversity to be seen. Enjoyed Bladimere as a guide. Part of hike through the river. It is different from the typical hikes. The waterfalls are awesome.
We had the absolute best hike today with our guide Jeremy. Truly the most knowledgeable and friendly guy, explained the easiest ways to climb and get to the falls along the way so everyone felt safe and knew what to expect. Was also able to time our arrival to the falls perfectly so that we had a bit of time there by ourselves between crowds. Also took tons of pictures and videos for us so we didn’t need to worry about anything but being in the moment. Truly couldn’t have asked for a better guide. If you want to see La Leona Waterfall, you must book through La Leona Waterfall Adventure Tour / Rincon de La Vieja Tours for the best experience! I couldn’t recommend this company enough. Not only was the hike amazing, but the office was in a super easy location to get to the start, the bathrooms and changing rooms were super clean and the parking area was secure so you felt safe leaving behind what you didn’t want to bring along with you to get wet. They provide lifevests that didn’t feel bulky and your own dry bag for your phones and water to bring with you. You really don’t need to bring anything else, you can leave everything in the car or in the free lockers they provide.
Vladimir was our guide and this was amazing!! One of the best parts of our trip, so fun!! Highly recommend this tour such a good experience
