Kutná Hora and Bone church - private with PersonalPragueGuide

Description
Kutná Hora, once home to rich silver mines, grew into Bohemia’s second most important city during medieval times. As you walk through the historic streets, you’ll visit the Italian Court—once a coin mint and temporary seat of Czech kings in the 15th century—and the stunning Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara. Don’t miss the Ossuary in Sedlec, a church decorated with human bones. For adventurous souls, the Czech Silver Museum offers an exciting excursion into an old mine pit, where you can explore narrow, dark corridors 20 meters underground. Note: Book in advance! The cathedral, Italian Court, and Bone Church are open year-round. + Many EXTRAS FOR FREE: A map of Prague designed for independent sightseeing, an architecture picture chart, a bookmark, and a surprise local treat—every client gets something truly local. We pay attention to the details, which is why we’re recommended by travel expert Rick Steves!

We are family of four from Canada who recently had a wonderful day trip to Kutna Hora from Prague with our personal private guide and driver, Honza. We were picked up on time at our hotel at 9 AM. The vehicle had lots of room and was very clean. On the drive out of Prague, Honza was able to provide an excellent overview of the political and religious events that shaped the history of the Czech region over the last century. As we arrived in Kutna Hora, we learned the significance of this important town to the history and economy of the Czech Republic. The day had a relaxed pace. We were able to see most of the significant sights with an interesting running commentary provided by Honza. We had a nice break at a lovely restaurant for some traditional Czech food, where we got to Honza on a more personal level. I would very much recommend this company and guide if you are looking for an entertaining and educational day trip from Prague.
Theresa was a great tour guide. Well informed and took pride in it!
Tereze was a wonderful guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much from her that we never would have gotten on our own. Beyond the sites, she had arranged the lunch reservation. On the car ride home, she even made a reservation for us at her favorite chocolate cafe in Prague. The Bone church is not to be missed, but the Cathedral of St. Barbara is incredibly beautiful, as is just walking the streets of Kutna Hora. I highly recommend this private tour.
Fantastic experience. The bone chapel was stunning as was the churches. Would recommend Kutna Hora. Marek was such an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Marek was happy to talk about other topics as my father in law is a war buff. Marek told him all the facts about places.
I was really looking forward to this and our guide was great. Loved the history and pride the citizens take in preserving the town. BUT … Take note that the Ossuary - a place of solemnity and reflection that says no photos, no talking - is under construction! So as you enter this sacred space you’ll be greeted by jackhammers and pounding as the construction crews work on the restoration. It was must be done but a better choice of timing would be appreciated. We were not warned and probably would have visited anyway but still. Worth making sure you know this before you visit. Our guide Petra was great. We booked last minute and they were able to accommodate the two of au for a private tour. Petra was knowledgeable and friendly.
Dear Sherry, Thank you for the detailed tour report. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your personal guide Petra and that the car was all right. I am sorry for the disappointment caused by the circumstances beyond our control. Today I contacted the office of the Ossuary, and they informed me that the reconstruction will last until 2030. There are two options: either completely close the Chapel to visitors or continue the reconstruction while leaving the space open under these special circumstances. The main issue with the church was a structural defect that caused the building to deviate from its vertical axis. Another significant problem was the extreme humidity in the lower chapel, which affected not only the skeletal decorations but also the masonry and stucco decorations. After my call, they promised to discuss with the workers to perform the noisiest work at times when visitors are not present. Unfortunately, I cannot do much more at this moment, but we will definitely inform all our clients about ongoing renovations beforehand so they are prepared and not as surprised as you were. Honestly, historical sites are often under reconstruction, and for the locals, it is considered a normal part of everyday life. I apologize for not informing you in advance. That is a very good idea. From now we will pay more attention to the reconstruction schedules at all sites in Czechia and Prague and will inform travelers ahead of time to avoid disappointment. More information about the reconstruction can be found here: https://www.sedlec.info/en/ossuary/ Thank you for your understanding. Keep traveling <3
We had a great day with Michaela. She is an excellent tour guide and Kutna Hora & the church are very cool and fascinating to see. I’d highly recommend this tour for anybody coming to Prague
Thank you so much for your great review and for recommending Michaela’s tour to Kutna Hora! We are thrilled that you found the "Bone Church" and the historic sites as cool and fascinating as we do. As true local experts, our guides take great pride in sharing these unique locations outside of Prague at an unhurried, personal pace. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again for another adventure!
LENKA was amazing. I would love to have her with us wherever we go in Europe. Friendly, personable. Felt like we knew her for years. Brought what we saw to life!
I wanted to visit Kutna Hora to see St. Barbara's and the Bone Chapel. Michaela was a great guide! Arranging the trip was a breeze, she picked me up at my hotel, and we were off. Her English is great and was able to provide a lot of interesting information about Prague, Kutna Hora, the Czech Republic and its history while driving to Kutna Hora. I think having a driver/guide was great because Michaela was able to drive to each location and parking was relatively easy. She is very knowledgeable and provided a lot of details that I would otherwise have missed. I would highly recommend this tour!
