A new experience

My family consists of myself, hubby and daughter. We Arrived, in swimsuits, at 6:30 pm for check-in near the entrance of the Outrigger resort. You’ll need to leave your backpacks / purse and extra clothes either in the tub they provide or in your vehicle. There’s no space on the boat for extra bags. Highly recommend that you get a wet suit. It gets COLD. Our crew was Koa, Taco and Kekoa. The boat reminded me of something Navy Seals use. We boarded at 7pm and all sat on the inflated sides and held onto metal handles. I think our group was 10 or 12. A full boat. The ride out was fun. When we got there Taco got into the water first and we followed by sliding off the side into the water and swam to our floating light, then began to put our floatation device at our ankles to keep us “Superman” spread. That’s where my problems began. I could not get that thing on or get my legs out behind me and started to have a panic attack, to the point it was hard to breath. I immediately told Taco I needed to get back to the boat. The crew were helpful and encouraging. They didn’t judge me for not being able to do it, and encouraged me on how to regain control of my breathing. My family stayed out. They saw lots of fish that came near the light to eat plankton and they saw one Manta Ray. They were in the water for about 35 minutes. My daughter wore a wet suit top, which was better than nothing, but when she got into the boat she was shivering. It was a neat experience. The boat ride in and out was fast and fun.

Incredible! The manta...

Incredible! The manta rays got so close to us. I went with my 6 and 8 year old sons (they are comfortable swimmers and know how to snorkel), and they loved it. I like that this company has the smaller boat (only 11 people), and I think that led to us seeing more rays. This boat leaves from a dock super close to the rays so it was only a 5 minute boat ride. Our guides/crew Taco, Koa and Max were great!

Kona Manta Ray

Great crew Koa, Taco and (Sorry) I can’t remember the third guy’s name. I couldn’t stay in the water bc I had a panic attack. I’m not very friendly with water, though I do know how to swim. The crew were SUPER kind and encouraging, helping me to get back into the boat & making sure I was ok. My family enjoyed it. They saw one manta. I do recommend it!

A total rip-off - Not 🐡🐡🐡

We didn't see a single fish, let alone a manta ray. Neither did the ships next to us. Supposedly we are among the 8% of unlucky ones who don't see any fish and also don't get their money back 😙 In my opinion, these night snorkeling tours in this way too small bay with way too many boats (and a huge hotel) are a total rip-off😬😬. If I were a manta ray, I would never swim there either.

Mantra Ray Fun

The staff was very super friendly. It was a pleasure to choose their company for such a fun experience. Please have experience in swimming though they offer life vest for those individuals who don’t feel as confident in their skills. The mantra rays and sea life was exciting to see

The Milky Ray

Such a fun experience snorkeling with the manta rays! Our guide Taco was a lot of fun and shared a ton of knowledge with us. We got to see 5 different rays and I was able to get amazing photos and video! The rays come so close they skim past you. We also got to see the baby ray Milky. So cute!

A breathtaking experience!

What a breathtaking experience! If you're visiting the Big Island, this is an absolute must-do activity. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. A special shoutout to Taco, who took great care of us while we were in the water and helped make the experience even more memorable. One of the reasons we chose My Kona Adventure was their smaller group size, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. Boarding and disembarking were quick and efficient, and the overall experience felt much more personal. We also opted for the shorter tour compared to some of the longer alternatives, which was the right choice for our family. The ocean can get quite choppy, and I think some of my family members might have become seasick on a longer excursion. We were incredibly lucky to see nine manta rays swimming right in front of us. It was truly magical and something we'll never forget. In fact, every member of our family agreed that this was the highlight of our entire Big Island vacation. A couple of tips for future visitors: Arrive early. Parking near the meeting location can be very difficult to find. If you're staying at the Outrigger, walking is probably the easiest option. Otherwise, give yourself plenty of extra time to park. If you're prone to motion sickness, take precautions. Even though my sister took one Dramamine tablet, she still felt seasick. If motion sickness is a concern for you, consider taking the recommended dose before the tour. This was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Don't hesitate—book the tour and enjoy one of the most amazing wildlife encounters Hawaii has to offer!
