Chinese fishing nets(Cheena vala)are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as Chinese fishing nets in India, the more formal name for such nets is shore operated lift nets. Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20m or more across. Each structure is at least 10m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end which is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of city name Kochi is ‘co-chin', meaning like China

Helpful honest Rickshaw driver.

Ami was really helpful and knowledgeable Tuk Tuk driver. We used him several times during our stay in Kochi. We arranged for him to pick us up from our hotel at 8am to take us to the railway station. He was there at 10 minutes to 8.00 ready and waiting. Got us there on time and for a fair price.

Perfekt Kontakt

It started perfectly! Sudhi contacted us 14 days before our arrival. He was very friendly. I was thrilled. I gave him our details again, and after he read the port's daily schedule, it turned out our ship wasn't on it. It also turned out I had booked the wrong Kochi. Our ship was going to Kochi, Japan, not Kochi, India. I had to cancel everything, but it went smoothly. One thing is for sure: if I ever come to Kochi, India, I will definitely book Sudhi and his tuk-tuk again. Best regards, Henrik

Fantastic knowledgeable helpful tour guides

Sudhi and Amin were fabulous guides. We were there with our friends. We were given a fabulous tour. As they are locals their knowledge was excellent. They were both so helpful to my wife who is disabled. Nothing was too much trouble. Both very nice charming helpful people. Thank you so much both of you. I will definitely use your services in the future if I return to Kochi. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone for an excellent guided tour, and any other transport needs within the district.

Better tour of Kochi and cheaper!!

Very happy with the experience. Driver was good, didn’t drive like a race car driver and knew his way around. Was very accommodating to our requests. Also a newer Tuk tuk, much nicer!

The best, kindest, friendliest Tuktuk tour, and a great price!! Ask for Sudhi, if you can!!

The best, kindest, friendliest Tuktuk tour, and a great price!! Ask for Sudhi, if you can!! We were so lucky to book Sudhi, for our Tuktuk tour - it really made our stay in Fort Cochin magical ❤️. He picked us up outside our hotel, and he took us around all the historic places, through the old town streets, through the market areas, to the famous churches and temples. He showed us the traditional laundry, and wandered around it with us. He knows the local people, and he talked with people everywhere we stopped. He helped us buy entry tickets (included in the Tuktuk tour price!!) and he told us his own personal stories about places! We asked to buy spices, honey, perfumes, tshirts, and he took us to the hidden places, where locals buy those things! He took photos of us, whenever we wanted ❤️ We were hot and tired at the end, and he took us to the cafe in the old town, that we fancied. The whole tour lasted about 4 hours - it was such good value!! So we made sure we gave Sudhi a decent tip, on top! We have photos and memories for ever, thanks to Sudhi's wonderful tour!!
