Zara was an amazing group to work with. Their guides were professional, knew what they were doing and were a joy to spend time with.
An unforgettable experience
Zara tours was perfect! What an awesome trip! Beautiful views everyday and they take wonderful care of you the entire time. Huge portions for food, I couldn’t finish most meals (200cm, 90kg man) My guide was Filbert and the entire team was wonderful. Couldn’t ask for a better team! I would recommend going with a group rather than solo if you are planning to go for an extended period (6+ days). Some days you only have 4 hours of hiking and from 12 noon - bedtime, you are alone in your tent which can be lonely if you are more extroverted. Not having to share a tent was a huge bonus though. Overall wonderful experience and definitely recommend. If you can go with a group of friends or partner etc, I would say definitely worth it!
The guides were fantastic! Very friendly and professional. They spoke to us about the culture and environment along the way. The porters were also great too; making an effort to chat to us when we were in camp and make sure our needs were catered to. The food was sometimes repetitive but I have dietary requirements and felt the chef did a great job at ensuring I could eat lots of the food. I was celebrating a birthday and the chef went to extra effort to make me something special for my birthday tea, with a cake too. The initial meeting was a bit confusing as we hadn’t been informed that the meet and greet was at 11:00 and only found out from other trekkers. This has already been fed back. I hired kit and the main issue was the sleeping bag. It clearly states -30C and the reason I didn’t bring my military grade one from home as presumed these were more suitable. On the first night, I wore thermals in the jungle (between 5-10C) at night and was absolutely freezing. The second night I wore clothes on top of thermals and the same issue. I even resorted to a down jacket and hot water bottle. These are not fit for purpose and we should receive a refund as it made for uncomfortable sleeping on the mountain.
We did not know what to expect, but we are completely thrilled with our mountain experience. Especially our mountain crew (Joseph and his entire team) were absolutely amazing! From trekking to catering and all services, everything was sensational. Joseph and his team provided us with an incredible adventure and experience. Anyone who gets to travel with this team can consider themselves lucky!
Really good experience, the porters and the guides were super helpful all throughout the trip. Would highly recommend to anyone else who enjoys adventures.
Our group of 9 Australians hiked the Lemosho Route all the way to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro fabulously supported by our amazing guide Festo Vincent and his awesome team. It's quite the logistical exercise to get 9 people to the top and I can't speak more highly of Festo and his team. A wonderful experience.
We took part in a 7-day trip up the Kilimanjaro. Fantastic trip that started in the jungle before we got up the high mountain. Fantastic guides and team of carriers, chefs and others who made this trip an unforgettable experience. All in turn also came up on top. The trip is quite physically demanding, so a lot of training before the trip is recommended.
Fantastic trip! Very positive and efficient crew, as the carrier, guides to prepare food++. everything went as it should and we got to the top (much thanks only the locals who took us up). 10/10 experience, which I take with me further. Would recommend this tour to everyone who is in relatively good/great shape!
I had one of the best experiences of my life with Zara Tours. I climbed Kilimanjaro in 8 days via the Lemosho route with the excellent guides Mndeme and Pius, and everything went really well. I highlight the professionalism and friendliness of the guides, who explained all the important details to us and checked in on us every day to make sure we were in good health. The logistics of setting up the tents were also handled very efficiently by the whole crew: whenever we arrived at the camps, everything was already ready for us; all we had to do was rest up for the next day. The food was also always very good, varied and more than plentiful. The friendliness of the entire staff made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend them!
