This half-day Khao Lak highlights tour combines local history, culture, conservation, nature, and responsible elephant observation in one easy experience. Visit the International Tsunami Museum and Navy Ship 813 to learn about the 2004 tsunami and Khao Lak’s recovery. Continue to Lak Kaen Temple for a peaceful cultural stop, then visit the Sea Turtle Conservation Center to learn about local efforts to care for young and injured turtles. The tour also includes a visit to Khaolak Elephant Sanctuary, where guests can learn about rescued elephants and observe their natural behavior in a respectful, animal-welfare-focused setting. There is no elephant riding, no shows, no tricks, no forced bathing, and no activities that disturb the elephants. Pickup is available from selected hotels and locations in the Khao Lak area. Please provide your hotel name or pickup location during the booking process. Please be ready at your hotel lobby or confirmed pickup point at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late or after the driver has already left your pickup location, you may be considered a no-show and the booking will not be eligible for a refund.

Excellent mixture of wonderful experiences. The Elephant sanctuary, tsunami memorial and turtle program were especially good. Our guides were knowledgeable and seemed genuinely excited about their subjects. Definitely bring a hat and dress to be comfortable but also protect yourself from the heat and sun.

Absolutely fantastic tour our guide was very knowledgeable and provided a real insight into the local culture and the Tsunami from personal perspective. Elephant sanctuary was great a chance to see them close up but without the tourist gimmicks that stress them. The turle conservation centre was fascinating. Overall would absolutely recommend.

Everything was fine. Just right. Not too little and not too much of anything. Bring water and mosquito spray, can be beneficial when visiting the parts with the elephants and the waterfall which may not really be a waterfall as it is affected by how much it has rained before.

There was a bit of confusion about the pick up time. It says to meet 10 minutes before so we thought we had to meet at 10 to 10 but the activity started at 10 our pick up was at 9:15 but no one told us that that’s the only thing I can say that was negative about the whole trip. was a lovely morning out from start to finish and the food was absolutely gorgeous and the turtles were really cute, especially the baby ones.

Excellent half day trip. Ended up being a little longer as we waited for other people to join at the elephant sanctuary- which was great as we got to see more of the elephants feeding, walking round and bathing. Food was excellent and our guide was brilliant. I had the impression that we would be able to cool off in the waterfall but it is not suitable for bathing. Travel was in an open back truck with h side seats and not a minivan/car.
