Itinerary
For the Jeep® portion of this safari adventure, you will join up to three other guests, with plenty of opportunities to change drivers for those who want to get behind the wheel! While you traverse the mountain roads of the Tongass National Forest, your guide provides you with interesting and informative commentary using a two-way radio. You'll be fascinated by the area's natural history as you pass through old growth and new growth forests and stop for magnificent views and photo opportunities along the way.
The Jeep® portion of your tour concludes with your arrival at Lake Harriet Hunt. Here, you'll experience a unique ecosystem from the vantage point of a 37-foot, Alaska Native-style canoe. These traditional Alaskan canoes are fast, stable, and easy to maneuver. Once on the other side of the lake, your expert guide will lead you to a camp on shore where an Alaskan snack awaits. Jeep & Canoe trip was a blast. Jeep ride is definitely a bumpy 4 wheel excursion. The canoe trip & snacks were a nice break from the Jeep ride. Would definitely do again!
V and her partner were awesome! Great trip, beautiful scenery, Fun Jeep ride! Great day! Lucky to have such a great team
The trip was fun. Some rain, but we were given heavy rain coats. The guide was great. Snack was hot very good clam chowder, salmon dip, coffee, hot chocolate and other things. The off road Jeep drive was fun and beautiful. The ride is bumpy which is to be expected. Go for it!
This is a scenic and fun Alaskan experience. The guide was very knowledgeable about the lical flora and fauna. The canoe part was most enjoyable with a wonderful taste of salmon and clam chowder.
Those complaining the canoe was short were on a different tour. I would say it was just about right for either novice or expert. An Olympic rower would not be impressed but as vacation tour, it was excellent timing.
I had high hopes for this excursion, but unfortunately it fell flat. There was a lot of standing around and waiting — it felt very disorganized from start to finish. The canoe portion lasted less than 5 minutes. Our guide was friendly, and there was a decent snack and a short 0.25-mile nature walk, but it was not at all the active experience I expected. The jeep ride included two quick photo stops but offered very few views and was honestly pretty boring. At one point, a guide was being yelled at over an issue with one of the jeeps, which made things uncomfortable for everyone. We spent a lot of time just waiting for transportation back to town, and we didn’t see any wildlife throughout the trip. I booked this expecting an active, engaging excursion — instead, it felt like a waste of time and money.
The tour itself was awesome, but it was very disorganized. They lost our reservation and then then apologize... but we were almost 45 minutes late starting and then they really rushed us through the nature hike and Canoe portion. When they served us the food, they told us we only had a minute to eat it (hot cocoa and clam chowder & coffee) so we couldn't enjoy it. Made us sad, looked really good. Was a lot of money for an excursion to make such a big mistake then rush you.
We had a group of six and split with girls in one jeep and guys in the other. Everyone agreed that this excursion was a good deal and great time. The weather was a little cold and wet but it didn't stop this from being fun! And after canoeing across the lake, we got to warm up with hot chowder which was delicious and some warm beverages. We saw a bear and several deer while jeeping. Everyone agreed it was the best excursion we did.
Great off-road experience! It was fun and easy for first timers, this tour is full of beautiful views of Tongass Rainforest.
Had the best time paddling out to our mini cookout on Harriet Hunt Lake and taking the Jeeps out for a spin on the backroads. Perfect if you want to see the sights and have a bit of a thrill at the same time. Guides were funny and knowledgeable. Thanks to Joey and Mitch for a great experience!
