We have visited the beautiful Kefalonia 6 times, and have always wanted to see Skala which is quite a difficult place to reach without hiring a car. So it was an amazing opportunity when I passed the offices of Kefalonian excursions and Georgia asked me had I ever been there! The stars aligned and after Georgia had worked her magic we went to Skala on the following Monday. This is a brand new excursion and it turned out to be one of the best we have ever experienced. Picked up at hotel in a air conditioned 6 seater taxi by Nicholas and Memi our driver and tour guide. We visited the Tholos tombs outside Skala, then had a short break in the village itself. Memi took us to see the beautiful mosaic floor in Skala village, and the remains of a Roman Villa. Also visited Poros, Katelios, Mounda Beach, and had a delicious lunch at Marina Bay hotel. Memi and Nicholas knew an incredible amount about the island, and made it a fascinating journey of discovery, as well as ensuring we were enjoying every minute. Facts and places about the island we would never have found on our own, such as the memorial to the HMS Perseus submarine which sank with only one survivor 1941, and who was sheltered by the local villagers. But my thanks must go to the incredible Georgia, who put such a great deal of effort into arranging the trip, and kept me fully informed every step of the way! She deserves to be top Saleswoman!!
