This was our third guided tour of the Katla Ice Cave with Troll Expeditions and once again, it was a great experience! We've always enjoyed this activity and bring our tour groups every year. Beda was an exceptional guide and we look forward to returning with another group next week! Our clients had a wonderful time, as always, and we will continue to bring our tour groups to the Katla Ice Cave with Troll Expeditions. We are US-based tour guides and can attest to the level of professionalism they provide. This activity is highly recommended, as is Beda and all of their guides!
If you are doing a tour of Iceland. The entire island this is a stop definitely worth taken! Well organized. Perfectly timed. Good instructions. Easy to set up. Ask for tour guide BIDA! He added to the experience because of his familiarity, information he provided, and excellent navigation! BIDA seemed like the Dean of Ice Tour Guides! All the other guides paid homage! The tour was three hours. 40 minutes to get there and back each way. Moderate climb to the cave and ample time to take pictures and enjoy the scenic beauty! The ice shoes were a necessity and were provided in various sizes! Wear waterproof clothing and boots! Waterproof gloves also needed! Helmets are provided! Please use Helmet & Pad Disinfectant from a company called Matguard USA for personal hygiene and protection! Trip was
Wow, what an incredible experience. A present from family for my 60th birthday. Beda our guide was charming, funny, and very knowledgeable. He clearly loves what he does, and really went that extra mile to make sure our group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had many opportunities to take some amazing photos. Highly recommended!
An unforgettable experience. The tour is very worth doing and more so with these troll experience people, they are people who treat you as one of them. You can see that they like their work and they do it very professionally and with great affection. You can ask them what you want them to know to explain everything and more about their land and the origins of everything that is in it. Veda is the guide who has taken us and the truth is that we have loved it, we have been able to enjoy the experience and we have enjoyed very much! An experience that you cannot miss if you go through Iceland! Thanks trol experiences!
We had a very good time at the cave with our guide, Veda. We recommend you to go with him. Really nice the jeep also! Nice tour!
Beautiful landscape, excellent tour guide and once in a lifetime opportunity. The ice cave is ever changing but stunning and an excellent experience getting up to the cave. The tour guide, Gabby, was very knowledgeable, great historian and a great educator in a fun way!
Thank you Troll for an amazing excursion. We spent an amazing day on a glacier hike and exploring the ice cave on 7/14/25. Our guide was Joao (from Portugal) and he made our whole family feel like experienced climbers. He oriented us to the equipment, terrain and strategies for maneuvering the glacier. Joao was funny, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. This was one of the best excursions experience we have every had anywhere on the globe.
Really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Frederico knew the science and made it fun. The scenery was incredible! It was well organized with a small group.
This experience was awesome!! Our guide (Oihana I believe) helped my fiancé to set the venue for our proposal. She spoke various languages such as English, Spanish and Italian, and she was very friendly and explained all the experience and gave us facts about the cave. They provided you all the equipment you need (transport and crampons) You won’t regret this experience! It’s totally worth it!
The tour is very expensive and misleading. You see amazing photos of the ice cave, but what they don’t tell you is that it is now almost entirely melted out. Now there is a very small maybe 20 feet ice cave. It is incredibly crowded, we felt like cattle being herded. There was nothing wrong with our tour guide, she was wonderful. But this place should no longer have tours (by any company) because it is so melted and gone.
