Description

Discover a different side of Kanchanaburi on a private day trip combining Erawan’s forest waterfalls with peaceful temples and countryside landmarks. Unlike many Erawan tours centered on the River Kwai and wartime history, this itinerary focuses on nature and local culture. Spend approximately three hours exploring the waterfall, with the freedom to swim at the lower pools or hike toward the higher tiers according to your interests and fitness. After Erawan, enter the natural cave sanctuary of Wat Tham Phu Wa, pause beneath the enormous canopy of the Giant Rain Tree, and finish at Wat Tham Sua, known for its golden Buddha, colorful architecture and wide countryside views. With private transportation and a licensed guide, the pace can be adjusted for swimming, walking, photographs and rest without following a large-group schedule.

Itinerary

Pass by

Leave Bangkok behind and travel west toward Kanchanaburi, a province known for forested mountains, rivers, waterfalls and peaceful countryside. During the journey, your private guide will introduce the region and explain how the day combines natural scenery, Buddhist architecture and local landmarks beyond Kanchanaburi’s better-known wartime sites.

10 min

Enter the forested surroundings of Erawan National Park, home to walking trails, limestone scenery and one of Thailand’s best-known multi-tiered waterfalls. Your guide will explain the park layout, walking routes and practical safety information before beginning the waterfall visit.

Admission included180 min

Spend approximately three hours exploring the seven-tiered Erawan Waterfalls, where water flows through forested limestone surroundings and forms a series of natural pools. Guests may relax and swim at the lower levels or continue hiking toward the higher tiers according to their interests, fitness and available time. Your guide will help the group choose a comfortable route rather than rushing everyone toward the top. Water flow, swimming conditions and access to individual levels may vary depending on the season, weather and national-park regulations.

30 min

Continue to the famous River Kwai Bridge, one of Kanchanaburi’s most recognized landmarks. Walk across the bridge, take in the river views and learn how this location became internationally known through the story of the Death Railway.

30 min

Visit Wat Tham Sua, one of Kanchanaburi’s most visually striking temples, set above the surrounding rice fields and countryside. See the enormous seated golden Buddha, colorful temple towers and a blend of Thai and Chinese architectural influences. From the elevated temple grounds, enjoy broad views across the Mae Klong River plain and take time for photographs.

Such a Good Day in Kanchanaburi

The drive was worth it for Erawan alone. Beautiful forest, cool water and plenty of places to stop for photos. I also enjoyed seeing a different side of Kanchanaburi away from the usual River Kwai tour. Great guide too!

Such a fun day trip with friends!

Me and my friends had a blast on this tour! Swimming at Erawan Waterfalls was super refreshing, and we had plenty of time to hike up the tiers. The cave temple and the massive giant tree were really cool to see in person too. Having our own private van made traveling together so easy and comfortable. Definitely recommend!

Like swimming in paradise

The water color here is insane it's actually turquoise and so clear! Felt like I was swimming in a natural paradise in the middle of the jungle. Definitely my favorite waterfall in Thailand.

A Refreshing Day at Erawan Waterfall

Erawan Waterfall was one of the places I really wanted to see in Kanchanaburi, and I’m glad we chose this tour. The water was clear blue and the different levels of the waterfall were all a little different. We walked through the forest, stopped for photos and spent some time swimming in one of the pools. It was nice to be surrounded by so much greenery and hear the water all around us. Our guide was very attentive and gave us useful advice about the walking trail and where to leave our things before swimming. There was plenty of drinking water in the van, and the private transport was comfortable after all the walking. We didn’t try to reach every level, but we saw enough to really enjoy the place. A very good day for anyone who likes nature and wants to get out of Bangkok for something different.

Cool Water, Forest Trails, and a Quiet Cave

Erawan was the part I enjoyed most. We spent the morning walking between the different waterfall levels and stopping at the pools that caught our attention. The water was cool and clear, and we could see small fish beneath the surface. The path became more difficult higher up, so our guide allowed us to choose how far we wanted to continue. Later, we visited a temple inside a cave. The atmosphere was peaceful and very different from the waterfall. Our guide was easy to talk to, looked after our belongings while we went swimming, and shared useful advice about the trail. It was an active day, but one that gave us many good memories.

A Fun Trip with Friends

My friends and I visited Erawan Waterfall. It was our first stop, and the waterfall was beautiful. There were a lot of fishes in the clear blue water too. We arrived early in the morning, so it wasn’t too crowded. Our guide provided plenty of drinking water and was friendly, funny, and easy to talk to. We also visited a beautiful temple during the trip. On the way back, all of us fell asleep in the car because we were so tired, It was a long day, but definitely worth it.

Fun Day at Erawan Waterfalls

We spent most of our time at the waterfall and really enjoyed it. The water was cold at first, but after walking around for a while, it felt really refreshing. The little fish kept coming around our feet, we have no idea before there is a natural fish spa here and it was tickle, as we were not ready for that. Our guide gave us the information before we went in, then let us enjoy the place. The temples we visited were quite unusual and stunning too, thank you very much, it was one of a wonderful day in Thailand.

Beautiful Waterfall

Erawan Waterfalls was the main reason we booked this tour, and it did not disappoint. The water was cold at first, but very refreshing after walking in the heat. Some parts of the path were a little slippery, so good shoes are useful. The guide was helpful and gave us time to enjoy the place.
