Itinerary

120 min

Kanazawa is one of Japan’s most celebrated food destinations, shaped by its unique geography and history. Facing the Sea of Japan, the city has long enjoyed access to some of the country’s freshest seafood, from delicate white fish to rich seasonal catches. At the same time, Kanazawa developed a refined culinary culture under the patronage of the Maeda clan, where presentation, seasonality, and craftsmanship became just as important as flavor. This balance of abundance and sophistication is still reflected today in its local dining scene. Across the city, you will find a wide range of food experiences—from casual neighborhood izakaya serving fresh sashimi and regional dishes, to small bars and eateries that highlight local ingredients and sake. Rather than focusing on one specific district, this tour allows you to explore Kanazawa’s food culture through the places locals actually enjoy, offering a flexible and authentic way to experience the city’s culinary identity.

Plenty of fun, cultural insights and entertainment

A great tour tailored by our guide Megu to suit your interests in the Kanazawa food scene. We were lucky to get entry to some very popular (busy) izakaya’s and restaurants and then kicked on with a couple of stops at very popular cocktail bars. Megu did a great job looking after us, I would recommend this tour if you’re lucky enough to spend time in Kanazawa and would like to get an insider’s advice on Kanazawa’s nightlife. You’ll need to pay for your drinks and food (which you would’ve anyway) and Megu will do all the planning and provide the plenty of fun, cultural insights and entertainment during your evening’s adventure.
