Itinerary
Listen as the professional guides explain how to paddle and give safety instructions for your epic 1.5 to 2 hour adventure down the Kananaskis River, which originates in the Canadian Rockies and flows 46 miles (74 km) before emptying into the Bow River. Relax as you cruise along the calm parts of the river, taking in the scenery of craggy mountains and verdant trees. Keep an eye out for wildlife like eagles and other birds soaring overhead and bears or deer walking along the banks of the river. But don’t relax for too long — this is still an adventurous river. Listen as your guide directs you to navigate the periodic rapids. Hang tight as you bump up and down over the white water as if it were an aquatic bronco. When your rafting adventure comes to an end, you’ll be rewarded with snacks and high-fives, before relaxing on the ride back to your starting point.
After pick-up from Banff or Canmore (optional), take a brief but picturesque ride through the Canadian countryside to the tour meeting point. Once you've signed a waiver and geared up at the riverbase, you'll be transported in a comfortable bus to the riverbase to begin your whitewater rafting journey.

This rafting adventure was outstanding. This company is well organized and employs safety-oriented staff. From beginning to end, our entire family had a memorable excursion. With family members from 7 to 72 years old, we all agreed that this activity was one of our best in Banff region! I highly recommend this trip.
Shac was the best. We had a beautiful day on the river and she was an excellent guide. Definitely worth the value and what beautiful scenery.
My family and I had a fantastic afternoon out with Jeff ( driving our bus) and Joe our brilliant guide. The whole team were encouraging and welcoming but most importantly safe getting us as inexperienced rafters down the river and having a great time. Would highly recommend
We had an amazing experience with Chinook Rafting, and a big part of that was because of our guide, Nicco! He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole rafting experience fun and exciting. Nicco did a great job guiding us through the river while making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. His positive energy and great sense of humor made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended—ask for Nicco if you want an unforgettable rafting adventure!
Our guide, Laura, was awesome! She was fun, knowledgeable and entertaining. The rapids were just right for our family.
My family had an absolute blast at this place! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. A huge thank you to Rachel for making our visit so special. We can’t wait to return!
We had no experience rafting and loved this experience! Family of four with one adult child and one 16 yo. A few were quite nervous but start to finish this outfit does fabulous! Prep email was informational. Instructions and safety briefing were thorough. We loved our guide Jarred! We were paired with a family of 5 so 9 of us plus the guide. There are restrooms and changing rooms at the meeting point but all you need is swimsuit. You leave all clothes, shoes and towels in your car. They provide wet suit and boots and helmet. You take a bus to / from the river, they take photos that they then provide included in your price. You start off practicing with the guide and then hit the water. We felt prepared and safe and had SO much fun! Some rapids to start and then a relaxing float to end the tour. Recommend a change of clothes in your car- you will stink after the experience. They provide drinks and snacks after you get back.
We had an amazing time rafting with Alex and his crew! Our kids are 10 and 14 and loved it. It is cold, and we did get wet, but it was worth all the fun. Alex was especially attuned to a medical condition in our group, and we felt super safe. The photos provided are great.
The fun and splashy trip includes 3-5 category 2-3 rapids and then is fairly calm the rest of the way. It was perfect for our group which includes multiple adults for whom this was their first experience rafting. Fortunately, they’re hooked and we’re talking about where to go for a multi day rafting trip!
We had a big problem. The tour guide never showed. A bunch of people waited around for our river rafting crew and eventually found out it had been canceled and no one told us. Our email that very morning said GOOD TO GO HAVE FUN. We were then told we could be refunded or reschedule. I would not give them another chance to cancel on me so took the money back and looked for another rafting company.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are very sorry this happened, and I would like to sincerely apologize. The original cancellation was due to a high-water event which turned into a flood event that created unsafe river conditions in the area. At first, we were still trying to move affected guests onto an alternative trip that was expected to run. Unfortunately, conditions and operational decisions changed quickly that day, and our communication did not keep up properly. You should not have been told the trip was still going ahead and then arrive to find no trip operating. That was our mistake, and it was not acceptable. Our reservations team was dealing with a very high number of affected bookings and calls that day, which is why it was difficult to reach someone by phone. That explains the pressure on the system, but it does not excuse the poor communication. In hindsight, we should have handled the cancellations differently, and we have already made changes to help prevent this from happening again. We are working through the affected refunds. Credit card refunds can take several business days to appear. We are reviewing the affected bookings from that day, but through this review we couldn't track back your booking name. If you would like me to look into your specific booking directly, please email me at richard@chinookrafting.com. Again, we are very sorry for the wasted time, frustration, and disappointment this caused during your Banff trip.
