Description

We conduct our tours in partnership with the local indigenous communities, and help sustain their traditional cultures and lifestyles. As opposed to the usual sight-seeing tours, each tour focuses on only one specific ethnicity and provides a more in-depth introduction, as well as personal interactions with community members and their daily lives. Our amenities are also higher-quality and more extensive than offered by other tours, and our licensed tour guides, averaging 20+ years experience, more qualified.

Itinerary

300 min

The Judeo-Christian tradition has a long history in Myanmar, beginning with the arrival of Catholic missionaries in 1554, the introduction of Protestantism in 1813, and the immigration of Iraqi and Cochin (Indian) Jews in the mid-19th century. The tour includes cultural visits to various historic churches and Myanmar’s last surviving synagogue, along with discussions of the religions, culture and architecture. Also included on an occasional basis is the sharing of meals with local priests, ministers and elder laypeople, as well as the joining of masses/services, bible study and meditation.

A Great Western Heritage

As a devout Christian I was surprised to see such a wide variety of beautiful historic churches and synagogue. Heartwarming that religion is still such a vital part of this community. Great guide and lunch.
