Excellent Guide in old Fort Kochi

Satish was an excellent, professional guide. His notes and observations bought old Fort Kochi and the Jewish quarter to life for my family. The unexpected highlight was going on an impromptu elephant hunt through the warren of streets in the old town to find an elephant that flashed by as we drove past a side street by a temple. Satish knew where to find him!

Kind and accomodating...

Kind and accomodating guide however the retail punting in the tourist markets and perfumeries really puts a damper on what could be a very interesting and intimate experience of a unique Indian Jewish quarter experience. Room for improvement.

Jewtown Tour is really cool!

Very interesting tour and history of the Jewish quarter. Satish was a great guide and very knowledgeable providing us important facts about the wonderful district but shared the right balance of information. Well worth doing!

Walking down our colonial history

Even though I grew up in Kochi, I only had a vague idea of the history of Fort Kochi. Decided to make use of this trip back home to expose my not so little one to our interesting and diverse history. Satheeshan was well versed in the local history and beyond. He paced the tour to our needs and made sure we were well taken care of. We got walk and view down the halls and rooms of the Dutch palace, a walk around the Jew Town neighborhood, got to see the biggest vaarppu, the longest incense stick all along with a beautiful narration of local history. Thank you for a lovely time!

Engaging walk through Jewish Town

Satish gave us a thoughtful and engaging tour starting from the Dutch Palace and going through Jew Town, where we were able to spend a lot of time at the beautiful synagogue. We also saw a range of shops including a women’s collective where you can get clothing and tea and spices. Satish was incredibly responsive to our interests and cared that we made the most of every place we visited. He was very funny and we loved talking with him throughout the tour!

Great afternoon in Jewish Quarter of Kochi

We had a great tour. There isn't a ton to see - but our tour guide brought it all to life. We walked the old streets, stopped in stores (no pressure to buy), went into a commercial kitchen and saw some biryani being made, we saw the Jewish graveyard, the old jewish buildings and even got into the synagogue. We spent two lovely hours together - learned many things that we could not have learned on our own.
