4-Day Rockies Special Tour - Part of a four-day tour called Banff, Jasper & Yoho National Park, Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: We participated in Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield. When applying for a tour on the operator's website, you can choose English, Chinese, or Japanese, and we chose Japanese. The participants were overwhelmingly from a certain country, and 90% of the 50 or so participants were from a certain country. They were always loud and loud and arguing, so it was loud and loud. Perhaps because of this, the guides’ explanations were mainly in a certain language, and English became like a supplement. I felt like I was going to a certain country instead of Canada. Regarding Japanese, the guides do not speak Japanese, but only pre-recorded explanations of Japanese are played on machines, so it is not a resourceful commentary on site, but just an audio tour. It was boring, just content that you would understand if you read the travel guide.
Our tour of the Rocky mountains was for 6 days starting and ending at Calgary. I didnt have this option to pick from the drop down menu so i chose the closest one being Jasper 2 day tour. Out 6 day tour covered, Jasper, Columbia icefields & Skywalk (optional activity), Banff, Lake Louise & Kootenay areas. The landscape was amazing and we would have enjoyed that trip with any other tour company or guide i guess given the amazing views. So in other words the tour company/guide makes the difference to the tour as you are paying extra for that piece. While the tour guides (we had 3 for different days) were very genuine and seem to love their job, i think the difference was that this company primarliy accomodates tours for a particular group of guests and hence the guides carry out their tours in dual languages. Sometimes it can be a bit hard to understand and a few bits of info gets missed. We also had a bit of trouble trying to get my point across to the admin staff when i had general questions about the tour before it started. So communication wasnt very clear and a bit confusing due to translation issues. If this company stands to specialise these tours for specific groups of people, that is perfectly fine, BUT please make that clear in your advertising material so that other quests are not oblivious to this fact and they can make a decision about choosing a tour with all info on hand. I do give credit to the tour guides as they tried their best to accomodate all needs. I think the company has a bit to learn from planning for logistics and communicating well and in a proactive manner. PS: While generally the accomodation organised by the tour company was good, there were issues with loud AC noises (more apparent at night time) at Banff Aspen Hotel and temperature control at Jasper Inn. Coast Calgary Hotel has exptremely limited breakfast choices (not worth paying extra for this) which are pre-made and kept in the store frifge the night before.
Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the stunning scenery and appreciated the efforts of our tour guides. We’d like to clarify that our guides provided all services as outlined in the tour package. Since our tours often include international guests, bilingual commentary is part of our standard service to ensure accessibility for all. Please also note that your booking was not made through TripAdvisor or Viator. Different booking channels may offer slightly different service scopes, so inclusions may vary accordingly. We appreciate your suggestions and hope to welcome you again in the future.
From the swimming pools fed from natura; hot springs to wilderness abounding, Jasper and surroundings are breath taking. There are so many free animals, but please do not feed them. Then they will wander into town looking for food, Jasper is very nice and even has a small movie theatre.
This was my first trip, and I was solo internationally at that. David Wei (tour guide) and Jones (driver) were both excellent guides. David kept everyone on time and provided great history and facts about all the tourist attractions we visited. There were zero logistical issues on their sides, the few issues we had were due to the attendees (left their bag somewhere, or got lost, stuff like that). The guides made the trip very memorable trip!
We have done tours with Viator tours on 2nd July "Lake Louise & Yoho N.P & Moraine Lake 1-Day Tour from Calgary", on 3rd July "Banff Area 1-Day Tour from Calgary or Banff" and 2 days tour on 4th /5th July "Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour from Calgary or Banff. Tours were wonderfully planned & organized, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. On the return of the Jasper tour back to Calgary, we requested tour guide Mr. Allen & Bus driver, Mr. Hemen, to drop us somewhere near our Hotel but they disagreed, but the day before some passengers were dropped at Jasper at some location as per their request. We informed Mr. Allen that my son has an appointment in Calgary. To our surprise instead of dropping us at Ramada Hotel as per the itinerary, they took us to Airport to drop off some passengers to take the flight without informing us, this caused considerable delay, this caused a lot of inconvenience to us as we could not get proper dinner & delayed for the appointment, hence we got down at Airport & took a taxi to our Hotel. It is requested to look into the matter and do needful.
The guide was Jessie! I am not sure why you think he is a good guide! His English is terrible! He was more interested in timing than care of passengers. 10 minutes for a washroom break for 54 people?? It was my first time traveling with Calgary Tours and don’t think I’ll travel with them again! Jessie was oblivious of a gentleman, wearing only flip flops, taking them off and stretching his feet unto my seat, callouses, sores, etc. His knowledge was scripted and if a question was asked he couldn’t answer it! I have never seen the tipping procedure anywhere else in the world! Jessie announces that he’s coming by for his tip and ticks off your name on a sheet of paper. This should be told in advance to passengers or envelopes provided? Our driver was Barry and he was excellent!
Dear Value Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. After investing your concerns, we learned that Jesse had never worn "flip flops". It is clearly our company regulation that requires all tour guides to wear company uniform which is light yellow/green jacket. We believed that he follows this rule strictly. We are reviewing the procedure of the tip collection to seek improvement of our services. If you’d like to discuss this further, please contact us at 1-403-276-7816 or info@calgarytour.ca, we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to further hear your feedback. Thank you and Regards, Calgary Tours
Went this tour with my husband and my 5 yrs boy. My boy love it so much! The tour guide is very accommodating and he gave us enough at each spot! Jasper is so vast and huge! Amazing view of mountain and landscape. And wild life is everywhere. Highly recommended!
Absolutely good experience as the tour guide was knowledgeable, considering, and accommodating. He went beyond and recommended lots of evening activities as well as restaurants; he even tried to make reservation for us. We have lots of beautiful pictures taken and it was such a memorable trip. Highly recommended.
The guide misguided us saying no one is going to get the glacier tour. They asked us to not go when it was included in the itinerary. Later we had to wait doing nothing for people who went on the glacier tour
Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your bad experience. Your feedback is very important to us and we wish to assure you that we take all comments seriously and we will address these issues accordingly. However, the package without optional activity was chosen on Viator where the admission option was provided. As our product described, we will be stopping at Columbia Icefield for 3 hours. As this is a share tour, waiting for other guests are the nature of this kind of traveling. Additionally, during this peak season with high demand, it is highly possible that customers can not add tickets if they did not purchase ahead. Our tour guide suggested you to try skywalk as that was the only available activity at the time. The admission ticket availability is just beyond our control. We try everything we can to provide smooth journey and experience. Our tour guide even offered a free airport drop off which does not include in this package. Although you did not leave us a good review even with extra services, we would greatly appreciate the opportunity in the future to turn your experience around. Thank you and Regards, Calgary Tours
Guied provided a knowledgeable insight into the sites we visited. small group was great. Highlights were definitely the Maligne cruise and Spirit Islandthabasca Glacier excursion.
