It is one of the ancient stepwells of Jaipur which was erected by the royal family to store the rain water which was used by local people in dry season. A series of steps are going downwards to the water level. Standing next to the imposing Amber fort a must visit place to be seen while in Jaipur.
Drive to the picturesque Jal Mahal, a palace partially submerged in the Man Sagar Lake. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the 18th century, it served as a hunting lodge and pleasure palace. Enjoy the view of the palace from the banks of the lake. Although you can't enter the palace, the setting and the reflection in the water make it a picturesque spot for photographs.
Visit the City Palace, a royal residence built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. It combines Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Explore the various courtyards, museums, and galleries within the complex. The Chandra Mahal, a part of the palace still used by the royal family, is a highlight.
Stop for lunch
As the sun sets, head to the Hawa Mahal, an iconic pink sandstone palace built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Its unique design features 953 small windows (jharokhas) that allowed royal ladies to observe street festivities without being seen. The palace is beautifully lit in the evening, making it an excellent spot for photos. You can also explore the nearby markets for souvenirs.
Walk to the nearby Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the early 18th century. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most significant observatories of its kind. Marvel at the precision instruments designed for astronomical observations, including the massive Samrat Yantra sundial.
