In-depth Guided Tour in a Real Murano Glass Factory

Description
Do you want to learn about the inner workings of a real Murano workshop? Are you tired of the endless tourist traps around Venice and Murano? Look no more! With this experience, I want to show you what a real glass factory looks and feels like, understand the production process of glass from sand to a bespoke piece, and watch real Murano Glass Masters while they blow glass (explanation in English). What you will experience: First, in the Batch Room the place where it all starts: Here, sand and other chemicals are mixed to perfection to obtain glass that will melt once charged into a 1400°C furnace. Next, in the Hotshop where the magic happens: You will learn about the glass melting process, from chemical mix to molten glass, how the furnaces work, and an overview of all the tools we use. Last, in the Coldshop where the glass starts to shine! You will see all the machines used to carve, drill, cut, flatten, and polish glass.

10/10! Don’t be lured by the guy hustling his business off the water bus, head straight here for the real deal!

Real Factory Tour - not just a quick "behind-the-scenes" visit. Marco guided us thru all the processes of making glass from raw materials, various colour pigments & then Hot-forming, followed by Cold-machining. He showed us how they are making "gold leaf" flowers for a designer brand - with a team of 3 working together to combine various glass elements to form the flower petals & vase to hold the flowers. A memorable experience like no other "factory tour'
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the full factory tour and appreciated the depth of the experience. It’s wonderful to hear that Marco’s guidance and the craftsmanship of our artisans made your visit so memorable. We truly hope to welcome you back again!
Visiting Wave Murano Glass was amazing. The live demonstration was the highlight for me — watching the actual glass masters create a glass flower for a chandelier right in front of us was fascinating and genuinely impressive. The furnaces blasting heat made it all feel so real. It’s not a staged show; it’s real work happening in real time. Very cool. Our guide, Marco, had great energy and explained every step clearly. He made the whole process easy to understand — from how the glass is created, heated, shaped, annealed, and then polished into a finished piece, from beginning to end. His enthusiasm added a lot. The full factory tour lasted about an hour, and it was detailed without ever feeling rushed. Seeing the workers produce the same pieces that end up in the showroom gives you a real appreciation for the craftsmanship behind Murano glass. The pieces in the Wave studio itself are also beautiful and unique — it was interesting to see the room at the back with the “special” created pieces. Overall, the experience was well worth the cost and the time. If you want to see authentic Murano glassmaking up close, this is the place to go.
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the full factory tour and appreciated the authenticity of the experience. Marco will be thrilled to know his passion and explanations made such a positive impact. It means a lot to us that you left with a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind Murano glass—we hope to welcome you again!
Free and open visit of this workshop. Great experience and lovely discovery! Thank you very much 🥰
Merci beaucoup pour votre gentil avis ! Nous sommes ravis que la visite libre vous ait plu et que vous ayez passé un beau moment parmi nous. Au plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau !
We had a great tour here! The lady explained the whole proces of making the glasses, vases and art objects. It was very interesting and we were led all through the factory. It was great to see all glassblowers working hard to make beautiful objects from close by. The owner, a young man 35 years old, was working there as well. Highly recommended to do the tour and not just go in to see the proces from behind a line.
Thank you very much for your feedback, the opinion of our clients is so valuable!
Wonderful tour, very insightful into the world of glass blowing. Answered all questions, and learned a lot. Highly recommend this tour!
Glad you enjoyed it so much, Kelly!
Fabulous tour! Marco was an excellent guide and took great care of our group. Small tour, just eight people. We got to go behind the scenes and see glass making from start to finish. We were very lucky to be there when the team was creating a stunning sink basin and watched the entire process. Totally worth the fee for the guided tour. When we finished this tour we headed to the glass museum and in a special exhibit there was a creation from Wave. It was very cool to see their artwork in “real life “. Thank you Marco for making our time on Murano extra special.
Thank you Julia for your incredible review! Big hug from Marco and the team! :-)
Tip: admission is free to attend the first demonstrations!! It's good enough for those who don't want to pay a fortune to take a guided tour (you have to book well in advance). The welcome is very nice, we already discover some beautiful realizations and we see up close the artists making the creations. We can stay as long as we want.
Merci beaucoup pour vos commentaires !
Very interesting to see when we are explained
Merci!
